Knocked the teeth out...

of the rear pinion gear in my GTP. Blowing the dust off the chassis doing a few full speed runs up and down the street, I rear end sounded and shook terribly. I broke down the rear end and found that 7 teeth had been broken off the differential pinion gear. I love the power but hate the inconveniences it causes. Upgrade time.

I will soon. The gear ratio is going to be lower also. The stock is 3.30 but the new ratio will be 44/14 or 3.14.

That's actully a higher ratio then, not lower

Worst part about the K series diffs, they just do not hold up all that well... I did the same on my mbx and gtp. If you shim them just right and run some good synthetic grease they last longer.

are there any diffs that are stronger that fit in an ofna lx-1e without too much modification? i know that the GTP uses the same diffs as the lx-1e, so this will be helping big house too. i have been running 4s in my buggy without issues, but i want to bump it up to 6s and a 1518, but don't want weak diffs.

I haven't had any issues with my LX1-e after lots of very hard running with mine, always on either a 1518 or 1520 (I had to at least try it!) on 5s. My 1st LX buggy (an old old blue chassis) conversion, did eventually chew both ring gears, but I never checked them until after the carnage either. I blame it on age and never being serviced or re-shimmed after 10 gallons of nitro and at least 2 dozen packs through it.
