Yes the thread is 4.75 mm. It will fit m5 locknut's, and yes if you really really want to you can get some m4 locknuts on with a bit of force.(stock traxxas is m4)
You will damage the thread trying to get a m4 locknut on.

Are you sure the stock Traxxas are M4? I thought they were M5 since I tried a M4 screw on one of my wheel nuts and it would go right through the center...
I'm pretty sure stock one's are m4 since I had to get another socket driver to screw the m5 one's on for the ue cvd's. But i'm not sure, it's such a long time ago when I had a stock emaxx lol.
Are you sure you bought a metric screw kit from tony? Not the american thread style? Cause you won't get american thread style on metric thread style, and vise versa.
Nope. Got some local locknutz and they fit perect.
Locknuts go on with more force, specially new one's since the plastic ring is new. This is what you might refer to as "apply much force" to get it on. If that's the case then there is no problem. Just don't re-use locknut's all the time, the more you take them on and off the more the plastic ring will wear and the less it will lock.
