I have a Clod that Im considering going BL in, I was told to run 2 mamba maxx systems and had some questions about that. Can I run my current 7 cell nihms? I read about concerns that the 2 motors wouldnt probaly run at the same time, is this true? Thanks!

Do you want to keep it as a crawler? Any of the Mamba Max's run kinda fast for that and might not have the slow speed control you can get with brushed setups. I suppose it's possible with the right gearing.

And yes, it may be difficult to get the speeds of two ESC/motors to match. Even if the motors were exactly matched kv-wise, each ESC might put out a slight difference in speed. One thing you could do to help this is to use channel mixing on your transmitter so that one ESC is on the throttle channel and the other ESC is on the AUX channel. Then, you can set the EPA and centering for each ESC seperately while being able to control both from the throttle trigger.

Oh, if you're just bashing, then it might be OK. Is your radio a 3 channel system? And if so, does it have channel mixing? It might be a bit of a pain to set it up, but once done, you'll be all set. You might not even have to do the channel mixing thing if you find the motors do spin at the same speed - it's just an option if they don't.

I'm not familiar with Clods (but I'm sure someone here is). What's the gear ratio from the motor to the wheels? If it's not high enough, that thing is gonna fly, even with the Mamba Max 4600 motor (that's 4600 rpm per volt). Also, do you plan to use 7 cells for each ESC? If not, the current drain may be a bit high for one pack on two brushless systems.

If you just want a better ESC, the Mamba Max ESC can power brushed motors (which you already have) as well as brushless motors. The advantage to this ESC in any mode is the extreme amount of programmability, lipo cutoff, and the ability to use up to 14 cells (or 4s lipo).

I'd wait to see what others here say about this before you decide either way...

Well if I have to run 2 separate packs then i wont bother with it, for one no room on a TTR ripper frame. Im using 7 cells right now. Main reason I wanted to switch is for the motors, I hate brushed motor maintenence!

Makes sense. Since you'll be sharing the load across two motors, the current drain for each won't be as high as if you were using just one and might be OK after all. Like I said, I'd see what other people have to contribute before you decide to chuck the idea.

I would take the mamba-maxx with the lowest kv.

If you use a single cell, the power won't be too good.

The mamba-maxx is easy to programm with the computer, and all types of settings can be adjusted. (like startup-power, timing, % of braking power)

Hrm well guess it snot looking to good than, I have 2 mamba 25 systems in my MLST and Mfrog with the usb cable. Just cant run 2 packs in this clod, oh well maybe pick one up for my newly aquired stampede :027:

I would pass. Clods are good at crawling, not so much going fast. The motors on the gearboxes is a lot of unsprung weight, and hurts suspension action when you're trying to go fast and bomb across stuff. Still, if you are going to do it, go with the 4600's and a beefy battery to feed them.

Clods can be make to go fast. Sure they are not as easy as an E-maxx but you can do it.
One pack works fine and makes great power(over 50 mph on just 12 cells). With the clod you can't use huge motors because they will hit the four link bars. So the small motors don't pull huge amps.
If you want speed from a clod you need to use adj. motor mounts and grind out the gear case for pinion room. With a ground out case you can use a 22 tooth pinion which really helps speed.

Serum, Yes I took a little time off from the R/C stuff. Did my first speed run in months the other day. It was nice to be runnig an R/C again.
