Question FLM rustler bulkhead problem. - 11.09.2006, 12:54 AM

When I assembled my rustler in FLM aluminum... I remember assembling the front end and noticing when I put the top plate on, the steering arms where the tie rods connect would hit against the screwholes meant to extend the bulkhead a tad bit forward. So I disassembled and moved the bulkhead to it's extended holes... and everything worked great.

I believe I'm cursed... third run with the brushless setup... and I ran into a stone lining my driveway. Broke out two off the screw mounts on the bulkhead, and one out of the top plastic plate. I looked at it, and thought... ok... I can continue to use this bulkhead... now that the circles surrounding the screw holes that were blocking my steering are gone... should be able to move it to the other screw holes... no such luck. The one remaining circle of metal... it still blocking the steering.

I've emailed fast lane machine... and am sending the part back for replacement, along with the pin that held one of the FLM a-arms on. It also got slightly bent in the run in with the rock.

Was wondering if anyone found a way to modify the truck to allow the bulkhead to sit back (in non extended fashion) without blocking the steering. Are there steering components from another truck that would work with the rustler that would raise them slightly above those pieces?

even with the stock plastic piece on the chassis... there is only a mm or two of space there... just baffles me why they added the non-extended screwholes... if you couldn't use them. You almost have to extend the bulkhead out that extra .200 to allow for steering.
