Please help with G2R Brushless suggestions

Ive been reading these forums for a while but Im unsure about the proper setup I should go with.

Im building an G2R and will go with the single speed tranny conversion.

I want something fast but willing to sacrifice some speed for longer run times (not racing it).

How would you set this up (ESC, Motor, batteries) and what speeds / run times could be anticipated with the setup suggested?

I'd run Maxamps 8000mah 2S2P Lipo's with a Mamba Max ESC w/ a UBEC and an 8XL or 9XL, or possibly a 10XL motor.

The 10XL wont be very fast but you will get ages of run time (easily over an hour) with the batteries I mentioned.

I think a good balance would be the 8XL (or maybe the 9XL). I would assume runtimes around 45-50 minutes are easily possible with those packs.

The 8XL will give a nod toward speed, while the 9XL will give a nod toward run time. But they both won't be too far off from eachother (speed will be within 3-4mph and runtime will be within about 5-7 minutes).

If you dont mind the extra weight, you can try the 12000mah 2S3P Lipo's. They weight more than a 7 cell pack (while the 8000's wiegh less than a 6 cell pack). However, obviously, they have 50% more capacity than the 8k's.

man 1200 and a 10xl with batteries like that he would be counting down the time untill the battery would be dead it would be like 1.5 maby 1.75 hours.

12000's and a 10XL would be over 2 hours of runtime probably...

Its hard to tell. Gearing, driving style, terrain, and alot of others things affect runtime greatly.

Bashing around, I could get up to 25 minutes on GP3700's. At the track, that dropped to 14-18 minutes (depending on track layout and how aggressively I drove) and all out speed runs would drop it to 10-11 minutes.

Bearings could probably affect runtime by up to 15%. Old gritty bearings would kill runtime, while brand new ceramic ones would boost it pretty noticably.

Are you kidding me. I am so damn tired of my truck breaking all the time. In fact. I wish I had a truck that didnt break, which also had 2 hour runtimes. If I was really lucky it would bore me of RC's and I could finally give up this expensive addiction.

Heh Ill try to keep the breaking to my Jato ~ ~ A lot cheaper to fix that than this beast when all done. :)

You should just build one. They are super easy to convert - like a buggy but easier I think. Since it's 2WD, there's no driveshaft to get in the way so there's plenty of room for parts, batts, etc. The hardest part is the motormount, but even that is relatively easy since there are no mesh slots to try to create.

I don't have the tools or the knowhow to build a custom motor mount. Maybe I could pay someone that has done it already to build me the motor mount. The rest I could handle.

Lol. I used a hacksaw, a dremel, and some files. Not exactly high-end equipment. It's cheap too - just the cost of angle Al from onlinemetals.com. But it does take a while to make without the proper equipment.

Lol. There aren't nearly the number of people who want to make these than there are with Revos, Maxxes, etc. Besides, since the stock 3.3 is so fast, it's kinda expensive to make a 75mph Jato...
