Quark 125B - Battery setup ?? - 01.23.2007, 10:00 AM

I have the Quark 125B with a 7xl running with 8000 mah 2S2P. and 7 cell NIMH.

What happens if i don´t change the batteri setup on the Quark when i change the batteries ??

EX: could I run in the lipo setup mode (I use them most) and then sometimes use the NIMH´s without changing the setup ??

Can anyone help ?

Well, I haven't used this setup, but I imagine your ESC's LVC will kick in when those NiMHs reach whatever voltage it "thinks" is low. I'm assuming you set your LVC? What V per cell cutoff did you use? The ESC will probably figure the 7 cell NiMH pack as 2s and the it will cut off at the same voltage as the 2s pack. So, lets say you set the 2s cutoff at 3v/cell, the 7 cell pack will cut off at 6v, which is 1.16v/cell.

Just run it and see how it does. You certainly won't hurt anything either way...

I set the cut of at 3v. If I won´t hurt anything then Í just go on and try - how about the other way - setup for NIMH and using Lipo - will that eliminate the LVC ?

No, you'll be fine. You just won't be able to discharge those NiMHs down to 0.9v/cell that's all because the LVC will kick in at about 1.16v/cell.

I would not recommend this as you'd have no cutoff for the lipos.
