Newbie need help :)

Hey Guys,
I'm a Gmaxx and Revo virgin so would appreciate some help, considering building up a G3R and have a couple of questions,

Firstly, wold it be hideously expensive to build up a G3R by using new revo parts or is it best to get a Revo donor vehicle?

Secondly, i've been looking at the V2 slipperential and want to know is this a stand alone unit or do i still need an emax tranny to run this? (I'm guessing its stand alone by the looks?)

Thirdly, whats a good motor esc combo for 12 cell nimh?

If you can get a donar Revo then you can just remove the front & rear sections, and sell everything else to recoup alot of the cost. Buying all the parts to build the front & rear would be a nightmare as there are so many small bits and pieces... gah, no.

The V2 slipperential is a straight swap for the emaxx tranny, and use no tranny parts what-so ever. Its lighter, stronger and generally much better for racing due to the better gears (mod 1 pitch), and tune-abilty.

For 12cells, I would recommend the MM and a 8 or 9XL- though wait for some second opinions on that one.

Thanks for the help buddy. An MM esc is a mamba maxx i assume? They can handle the power of a bigger can motor ok? Also does the V2 come with a cover? Seems a bit exposed in the pics i've seen. BTW my parents come from somerset so "oh arr" to you :005: Thanks again for the help. :028:

Proper job. The Mamba max (MM) will happily handle the longer 8 & 9xl motors on up to 14 sub-c cells, though they need to be good cells, not cheapo ones. The V2 slipper doesnt come with a cover, but no-one has ever had problems with stones or chippings on the V1 version (same but different motor mount). Most people these days dont bother with gear covers on the emaxx tranny, and 1/8 buggy conversions have no cover for the modified gearbox. On a GorillaMaxx chassis or similar like the FLM, if you do run on very loose gravel, then it is possible to fab up a cover for the bottom of the chassis:-

Other options for speedos include the Quark 125b- but it is a little tempermental, or the warrior 9920 which is very tempermental, or the schulze 18.97k - which is great but expensive. Only other option is to wait for the Mamba monster maxx which could be another year or more at this rate, or Tekin are releasing a big truck system, which should be out fairly soon I think.

But on a fairly light truck ~10lbs or less, the MM on 12-14cells & 8 or 9XL is a good setup.

I would go with a Quark IMO with a neu motor. About the best combo IMO.

That combo is pretty pricey tho, nice i'm sure but $$ are a limiting factor at the moment :(
