Is it really possible to see 40MPH with this? I would need a 24-25 tooth pinion with my 49t spur. I would only have a gear reduction if about 12.75:1. Is this combo that much better that I can pull that ratio without frying anything?

People have been doing it for years, so I would be inclined to say 'yes it is...'.

The Hvmaxx runs at about a 25:1 reduction ratio, but then again, it spins about twice as fast....

I always thought 65k on 12 cells was a bit much! I was running slightly higher ratio, 23.75:1, but in a much lighter truck than the emaxx it was intended for. I'm a full on lighter RTF than an emaxx without batteries. After I find out what novak will do I'll wind up with a different combo

YEE HAw!!! LOL I finally got it going again! MM/8xl on 12 cells for the moment. Waiting for the CC BEC and 19t pinion from RCM to come then it will be 4s lipo!!! right now it's only running about 20MPH and the steering is really sluggish(mostly due to crappy servo). Hopefully with the BEC set at 6V it will help the servo until I can get something better. The one in it now is only like 40 oz/in torque that came in the truck. I'm really leaning toward 2 traxxas waterproof servos when I get some more money, at least it's moving for now though. Here's some pics, any feedback about any of it is appreciated, setup, wiring layout, whatever you see that could be better please let me know!

The only thing I would suggest is to forget about the traxxas waterproof servos, and pickup something with metal gears and around 200oz/in of torque. Other than that it looks fine. Will you be getting a motor clamp to stop the endbell from popping off?...

Didn't know that would be a problem, so thanks for enlightening me! I'll place an order for one in about a week. Wanna get it fully running on 4s and see what else I need, possibly different pinion or something, wanna order it all at once. Thanks again Neil

You definently need to go with just one servo. I had to switch to the single servo thingy from proline after the dual traxxas servos killedeach other.(1 pulling, 1 pushing) I'm now using the JR Z9000T Metal gear digital servo. Worth every bit of the $114 i paid for it.

OK, got my CC BEC and 19t pinion from Mike today. WOW this thing is insane and makes the Novak HV look like a kids toy! 20MPH wheelies everytime I hit the throttle. But the temps are HOT about 180 on the esc and the motor so I stopped! I'm going to order a smaller pinion after I hear from some of you guys. I'm running a mod1 spur from a MGT (49t) so my options for spurs is very limited and they take some work to get them to fit.

If you can, I'd say look for some larger spurs, rather than geeting a smaller pinion- $3 vs $13....

19/49 sounds abit on the tall side to me, have a gander at what others are running on similar setups: HERE.

Just Ran it with a 49/13 gearing setup and it wasn't bad except it was 2WD only! I'm at the point that I'm going to abandon my e-revo! I'm throwing all my new brushless stuff in my 3905 E-Maxx and gonna have fun with it! I have to say after all the work I'm not thrilled with the gorilla chassis. Fitment with the stock revo parts isn't to good and when you have to take it apart and put it back together thats a pain in the a$$! Prolly putting the G2R chassis on ebay in the next couple days minus the tranny and tires/wheels and whatever I get for it I'll use to upgrade the maxx. The 3905 suspension seems to handle pretty well and since I'm only bashing around I'll be fine. Plus it's one less to maintane and I can start saving to get an eight-t to convert.
