What about in the air though? Guess I'll go get it dirty if the track dries out today and report back.

Ok, went to the track. No nose diving, absolutley awesome motor. Perfect speed on 4s 6000mah geared 15/48, 20-21 minutes. Highest temp was 160 deg at the 20 minute mark.

Was thinking this would be awesome on 5s with a 13 tooth pinion, now to find a 5s that will fit under the body and yield a 20 minute run time.

Medusa 80mm motor - 12.28.2008, 01:55 PM

So anybody tried running the Medusa 80mm 2000kv motor? Any good or bad things for this motor. I'll be putting this on the Lst2, maybe 6S on MMM V3. thanks.

Probably wrong thread but maybe someone with more knowledge and experience can answer this. What would be a more efficient motor, Medusa 60mm 2000kv or Tekno Neu 1515/1/Y/F (2200kv)? Medusa geared with a 15 tooth pinion, Neu with a 13 tooth pinion on 4s.

They are both pretty efficient motors. It depends on the vehicle as to what would be more efficient. The Neu 1515 series much bihher than a 60mm Medusa. That 60mm Medusa would prolly be more efficient in a buggy than the Neu, but in a truggy or MT the Neu would be more efficient because of it's larger size giving more torque to move a heavier vehicle.

Ok, thanks. I have ran about five packs on the Medusa and love it. Now to find a 5s that will give me 20 minutes and fit under the D8 body. I'm thinking the Hyperion 4350mah would be enough, but not sure. My Polyquest 4s 6000mah gives exactly 20 minutes.

I run the 80mm in my Muggy and it's insane. You may have problems snapping tranny pins in the LST2, it is really powerful. It is definitely powerful, I'm going to gear mine down a bit to keep the amp draw down though. My MGM 16018 gets a little warm with this motor.

Just ran my muggy today. Had to stop after about 15 minutes because a rear susp.arm broke...

I ran it with lutach's 10s esc on 8s and a medusa 1300kv 60mm.... geared 12/48 (approx.40mph). Outside temp was 26.7f / -3c. I have a spektrum dx3s so I measured the motor temp with the telemetry function and according to the dx3s the max motor temp was 113f / 45c. The muggy weighs 12.3lbs / 5.6kgs.

I really love the way this combo handles the muggy. It does wheelies from startup, doesn't wheely much more after that. Very controllable power.

That is not an insignificant sized motor...

I think I'll stick a propadaptor on the rear shaft of mine, then paint it too look like one of those hypno-disc spinning things as it runs...

seems to me that would cause alot of unneeded drag on the motor and cause more heat
