FLM brushless savage x building - 08.14.2008, 04:57 AM

Hello,

In this topic i show my progress of the building of my HPI Savage X to electric conversion.

I bought an almost new Savage X roller and this are the specs wich it has when it's finished:

FLM brushless forward kit
Brake and 2-speed used
Mamba Monster Max ESC
NEU 1515 2.5D motor
LST shocks
Proline Desert Rat body
Proline Commando Beadlocks with Bow-tie 40 series
wheeliebar
FLM shocktowers
Spectrum DX3-R transmitter (EU version)
TrueRC 6s 5000Mah lipo's

Maybe something else comes too on it but i want this as first

Here some things i already got:

LST aluminium shocks:

Proline Beadlocks with Bow-tie 40 series tires:

The body gets airbrushed like the example of the Proline Harddrive body, only the black on the back becomes a blocked flag and on the spoiler my name

I post everytime new pics when something arrived and building pics will appear too...

Greetz,
Joram

joram i dont think 6s will fit in there with a neu 1515. i have a 5s with a 1515 with the spacers installed on the chassis and it is a perfect fit.

I fly, I drive, but most of all I crash.

Is the motor too big then?? I prefer no spacers, i want the chassis as stiff as it can be...

Wich motor can i use without the spacer? with 5s/6s...?
There are zo many NEU motors, 1515 , 1512 , y, d 1.5, 2.3 what does it all mean????
I want much power but not too much that is will destroy the diff's etc...

And that gear set, is that something for the money? because it's alloy gears...

Greetz,
Joram

you have to with any neu. The 1512 is just shorter not skinnier. 4s batts fit with no spacers, and def get the 1y if you do that. 5s batts fit with spacers and no strength is sacrificed because of it. 6s i am pretty wont fit at all but i will take some caliper measurements tonight and post em up for you so you can choose batteries accordingly.

Update

Today my Savage X arrived and my Proline Desert Rat. The body is now going to be airbrushed...

Here some pcis of building with standard chassis...

I go then on 4s lipo, power enough i think with the 1515 2.5d ???
I'm thinking of this gearing: 16/50 ??

if you are going 4s def go with the 1y it has more kv to spin faster and will have jsut as much torque. truck is looking good btw

Oké , than i take that motor

Shocks are really great, they are very stiff, i got the hardest springs on it, you must press very well to lower it... :)

that might not be a good thing for whoops. You want the susp. to be smooth and soft so it flexes but not so much it bottoms out. If it is too stiff it will fling the truck around making it hard to control

Yeah, i already fixed that, it's still stiff but you can press is, the comes still extra weight from new chassis and battery motor ect.. so then i can see what the dampening really is..

Will the spacers decrease the strenght of the chassis? i do prefer without spacers because everything will fit then nicer but with 5s i got a lot of more speed...

Can i get 70 km/h with a NEU 1515 Y and 4s TRUERC 5000Mah? and will 8000Mah fit?
I love speed but also strenght for bashing..

Greetz,
Joram
