I see the pictures. Nice set up Brian and very clean install as always. That piece going across the length of the chassis above the center diff... is that to minimize chassis flex? Or will something be mounted on top of it?

Thanks.
Yeah, the brace is to reduce chassis flex. In my buggy, I noticed the chassis begins to resemble a taco after a while, and this helps tremendously. I've done this in my Ultra GTP and MBX5/CORR conversions and it helps a lot. I don't plan on installing anything on this project, but I put the ESC on there in my GTP and MBX5.
Some may argue that the chassis is supposed to flex and helps traction, but I'm more of a basher/informal racer, so that level of detail is wasted on me.

Actually, ever since I sold my converted Revo, I've regretted it. I miss something with big tires that I can go over curbs and such. So, if I figure if I was gonna get a MT-like vehicle, I might as well get something with a proven platform and strong components. And a truggy fit the bill perfectly. Took a bit to find the proper shocks to get the suspension the way I wanted.

Sweet Brian. Very clean!
I like the chassis brace. Are you using that in conjunction with mike's brace that goes under the center diff? Also, would you be willing to make me one for my xt8. I use mine as a basher too, and any added protection would be great.
btw, are you still using the grey springs? I'm using the ofna big bores too and I found that the blue "hard" springs are very nice for bashing.
There's two sides to every schwartz, he got the up side and I got the down side.

Well, I do have a brace under the CD. I didn't realize it was Mike's brace - I thought the XT8 came that way.
I can make another top brace, but I would need the vehicle because I don't want to take mine apart again for test-fitting. Also, much of my work is "by eye", so things aren't always perfect. If you don't mind the "risk" of mailing both ways, PM me and we can work out the details. It'll take a couple weeks though because I don't seem to have the same amount of spare time I used to (new baby and all).

ohh.... I didn't realize it would take that much work on your part. I don't want to add more stuff on your plate since it seems you have your hands full right now. Thanks for offering though. Much appreciated.
I love the idea though... I will definitely try to make something similar.

They're not hard to make really, just time consuming without the proper tools. I start by cutting the rough length. Then I drill the 4 CD holes where it should go. Then I trim the sides with a hacksaw and file/dremel until it looks pretty. After that, I make the slight bends so it sits flush with the F/R diffs. Next I cut the ends off and drill necessary holes. Finally, clean and paint.

Wow! That's it in a nutshell.
I just came in from testing this rig outside. If all truggies handle like this, why is there even a market for monster trucks? This thing handles awesome, even the way I have it set up for higher ground clearance! My Revo NEVER handled this well! And I should mention there are no sway bars installed on this.
And the suspension? Perfection! This thing handles jumps, even high ones, with ease. No bounce, and no chassis slap - just pure smoothness. These Jammin X2 shocks are just right.
The CD filled with 120k is PERFECT! Wheelies only when I want it to, otherwise, just takes off like a scalded cat.
The Medusa 36-80-2000 on 5s ran perfectly. Granted, it was around 30* outside, but I don't think it was even 30* above that. Plenty of power too.
I'm using Mike's 5s2p 5Ah lipos and they worked beautifully as well. I have no idea how long I was out there, but when they dumped, they dumped. There was no "wait a few seconds for the voltage to rebound so I could drive it to me". When I put them on the charger about 10 minutes later, the pack was at 16.5v (lvc set to 16v or 3.2v/cell). It only took 800mAh before the voltage was at my storage level of 19v. Man, I love these.
So, in case you can't tell, I am extremely pleased with this setup.
