Neu 2230 motor will not fit - 06.29.2010, 05:12 PM

I just received my 2230 from Offshoreelectrics to find out that the measurements given was not correct and that the motor will not fit the car.

Here are the specs
- Given measurements:From this chart on Offshoreelectrics website the length of the 2230 1.5Y is 4.7 inches
http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/neu-motor-chart.htm

- The car with the kit mounted has exactly 4.975 inches of space for a motor. This should leave enough space based on the above mentioned chart...

- The motor that i received is 5.491 inches long :( This includes the little peace of the shaft sticking out the rear of the motor.

Any ideas where I went wrong here?? Should be pretty straight forward.

Excellent looking kit Mike! This thread has me thinking it may be time to ditch that little 1/8 scale toy I thought was a big RC...

Kits finally arrived - 06.22.2010, 04:16 PM

The (first) wait is over. I finally got the kits and mounted the first one. I only had little time to do this so I am by no means done. Still missing the batteries (10S config) which unfortunately are out of stock.

Anyway - for this test setup I have the Turnigy ESC, the Castle BEC, 10S batteries, 2215 Neu 750kv, pistix and 13T pinion which will give me a speed of around 64km/h (40mph). This is a test setup and I bought this fairly cheap ESC to test how it works while I wait for the Castle ICE ESC for cars (should be able to handle 12S/160A according to Patrick from Castle).

I am also going to build yet another Baja where I will test a Neu 2230 and a Lehner 3060 but only when the new Castle ESC is out.

Excellent kit btw Mike - mounting it was a pleasant experience. Great fitting and workmanship!

Just got through this whole thread and all I have to say is WOW.

Oh and it is about time I get to see that freaking monster of an esc put into a car. Ever since it came out on hobbycity I have been wanting to see it in action.

Mikes kit look top notch too!!! Nice1 Mike!

I am currently looking for an ESC (waiting on the MMMXL if thats what they are calling it) But after seeing this turnigy ESC, i am in too minds.

how much did it set you back?
how programmable is it?
Does it allow brakes and reverse or are you using mech brakes?
What are the specs as i just want to use 9s with my neu 1520.

Could you advise? i dont mean to steal your thread, its just i am quite surpriised i have never seen this before!
