Paralyzed, try rebooting your router / firewall (I really hope you have one!) and your cable modem. Some brands have issues that cause performance to degrade over time.

It depends on the time of day though- this was done at ~5:40pm in the UK, but after most people have gone to bed, it gets alot quicker due tio less traffic- typically about 7-8mb/s. Still crap compared to some of you bastards- I hate you and your super fast internet connections...

20 minutes later and its nearly twice as fast- bizarre......

Satellite tends to have high latency though because of the added distance to space and back.

Got Fios. Much better than the DSL before and its cheaper. Way faster than needed for most things, even w/ many comps on the network

this is a stolen wireless signal. 15x faster than connected to my modem with cat5 cable. what should i do about this?

Damn Art1k, thats a bit fast isnt it? I would run an extension cable from your work to your home- have a few inline hubs/boosters whatever to compensate for the voltage drop (unless its fibre optic), and it would still be faster than most other peoples internet...
