I want to car to be a low set as possible, have cooling holes, and have a boat tail if possible.
That guy running the tc4 with the 7700 completely stock,,, will I need to upgrade the tc3 to make it hold up to the power the tc4 does?

I just made an offer on a used tc3. $110 shipped. I hope I get it. It's rtr with a 11t brushed motor.
If I get it, I'll have to start thinking about electronics. I could probably borrow my mamba max from the revo. Now I just need the biggest motor that will fit that runs good on 4s.
Turnigy 36-56-2600 5mm shaft - http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...600kv_Inrunner
KD 36-60-3000 5mm shaft - http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...hless_Inrunner
I want to use a 3.2mm shafted motor as I have lots of pinions that size I want to use. Is it too risky to grind the shaft down to 3.2mm?

Get a medusa, and you will not want to run heavy batts in a tc, really throws off the balance and causes handling issues. 1/8 shaft is a good idea, as 48p pinion are not too easy to come by in 5mm bore. Or go to a 32p spur, then the sky is the limit with 5mm bore pinions.

How do you run light batteries in a speed run car?

Low mah high C rating... If you really go for all out speed, you are only making a few passes, so runtime is of no concern. Plus you want freshly charged batts, to get the most zap.. Usually after a few passes the voltage comes down a bit, so the speed is not as good. I plan to run a kevlar wrapped rotor hacker 5s motor on 3s lipo in my speed 10th scale. Fan and ubec on the MM or course. Getting all of that tucked into a tc chassis is a tricky proposition.
My layout is similar to the tc3, servo esc and motor on one side and batt on the other. I am using a neu 5000 25c 3s, almost the same weight as the other components...

I have a flightpower 30c 3300mah 3s lipo, but I'm not sure that'll have the punch. Maybe I can use that and the frickin castle normally-useless 9000kv motor?

This battery fits fine. The above car in the vid is running the same batt but in 4S.

Stick with the 5700 motor and big pinions... you will be surprised how light a 10th electric tc is. I did 74 with a feigao 380c s can motor and 3s maxamps lipo...

That actually sounds like a good combo. Do you think an MM would handle the current?

Should do 3s with the bec disabled. I'm getting a fan & cap soon so it should really be able to handle it then.

Would you recommend a 28mm motor, or should I go for a castle motor, or should I get a medusa motor? How will each compare? Why am I asking so many questions?
