Wow, and mine say 4-5ohm for 3s.... well, I wouldn't doubt it, they torture my transmission parts... at the track last week it blew the center CV cup off.

Aight, after a long wait from Eagletree about my non-working eLogger, I just went ahead and did a discharge test in LIVE mode with my laptop. So here we go...

Testing I used my electric 24V lawnmower on idle (just sitting there), as I figured it would be a pretty good constant load for the packs. Also, the loads are not that high, only 6C, but still, the purpose of this was to compare the discharge 'CURVES', the flatter, the better.

On test:

-6s Hyperion VX 25C 4350mah - Enerland based pack

-6s Hyperion VX 35C G3 4200mah - Unknown 'new gen.' based pack

Now you should note that I am pretty positive the current readings are off, as both of these packs only discharged 3823mah(4350mah rated), and 3950mah(4200mah) respectively.

The 25C pack looks to get 21.5volts average discharge.
The 35C pack looks to get 22.0volts average discharge.

Keep in mind that my eLogger is not accurate, and that actual voltages and currents will be different, probably higher. (me know it is) But for comparisons purpose, it is a good relative test.


I inserted a thin red line at 22volts for reference purposes.

HERE is the 25C Enerland based pack
HERE is the 35C G3 based pack

I hope to do some more higher discharge test to show more accurately what each pack is capable of.

So flightpower listed the prices of their packs on the USA website, and the prices are not too bad, definitely not like what their cost difference used to be. I also noticed another thing, IF the test above is to be believed, and now I think it IS accurate, even the discharged mah, then Hyperion overrates their specs, as far as MAH CAPACITY is concerned.

Looking at the different batteries FP has to offer:

EON X30 3800mah 3s pack - 345grams - $130

Hyperion G3 4200mah 3s pack - 345grams - $100 (actual discharged ~3950mah)

Again...

EON X30 3350mah 3s pack - 279grams - $125

Hyperion G3 3300mah 3s pack - 279grams - $80


This goes for almost the entire range of packs that are close to the same capacity, so I am sure FP and Hyperion use the same manufacturer. Also, FP seems to underrate their packs(or more conservative, take your pick), less mah rated for the same cell pack, and a lower C rating as well. So, does this deserve a ~30%+ increase in pack cost for the same thing? Are FP's going to be better matched, better voltage holding ability? Does it really increase costs that much that the consumer must pay for extra quality, wherever it may be... whatever form it may be in?

I think I am going to purchase a pair of the 3s 3800 X30's soon, see how they compare to G3's, which are 25% less. Maybe a Zippy pack is in order too.

Some more numbers:

Ran my 6s2600mah35c pack today in a Mini Ste:
The setup peaked at 63,58amps and at that point voltage was 21,78v.
So at 24c the pack voltage was 3.6v. This was in the 6th minute of bashing.
