I heard from another hyper 9E driver in passing that he was thinking of something similar, but with a longer lexan going under parts of the car that bolt down to the chassis for more hold on the lexan, then, using something to hold it like you have towards the raised chassis ends.

I am hoping so. I made it a point to only paint the body it came with beater style as I am hoping for a better fitting body.

I got to run my buggy on the track today !
Had the whole track to myself from 9:30am till I left at 3pm, Nice.

I have to say I'm impressed with the 9E very much, I've driven a few E-buggys of friends and a couple guy's at the track whom I met and by far I'm liking how the 9E wheels around.
This buggy is easy to drive and goes where you point it. The only thing I'm gonna change is the front shock fluid. Going from 32.5wt to 35wt, maybe a lighter front sway bar. Everything is pretty close for my driving style and the track. I need to read up and understand droop a little more and maybe tinker with that ? I ran (2) 8000mah 4s, (2) 5000mah 4s, (2) 3700 4s thru it today and temps never got over 138/motor, 120 Lipo, ESC fan never came on. And it was boiling out there today,whew !
Happy to report my homemade mud gaurd worked perfectly, was needed cause the track was a very damp and gooey in a couple places this morning till it dried out some. I bet the buggy weighed a couple extra pounds after the first run from the collected mud/clay. I need mud deflectors for the rear arms and gotta get the Impakt conversion chassis mud gaurds !
Durability is non issue, I was kinda worried due to the Mods folks were suggesting for the front arms and after market rear hinge pin plate. I didn't break a thing and I bounced off a few pipes pretty hard and had some ugly cart wheels.
I have driving skills from when I raced TC's for few years way back but running decent times on the clay is kinda new for me but I think my buggy and I are gonna wax my buddy and his 8ight's ASS! Feeling Confident, I'm gonna whip your ass Eddie !

Great news!! What sort of run time did you get with the 8000 pack? what are the Impakt conversion chassis mud gaurds?

I was getting about 40-45 minutes with the 8K 4s, and roughly 30-35minutes w/the 5K 4s, the 3700mah packs got 13-15 guessing.
My set up would be much better if I had a lower KV motor, My next quest me thinks ? 1800-1900 kv NEU

Bear in mind I wasn't running the shizit out of the buggy wit the huge packs, just steady evenly paced smooth driving. I was driving the hell out of it with the 3700mah packs, handled awesome with the smaller packs and flew like bird.

Just looking over my buggy and noticed a bent a CVD ? ? nothing broken,so all is good.
The wet/damp mud have made the CVD's have surface rust already,here comes WD40 !!

wow thats some impressive run times!! how much dirt came up through the shell chassis fit? Guards looks like could work for $10 worth a shot.

The side I made the mud gaurd for was spotless except where the gaurd ended. The battery side was heavy with mud and it collected all aound the center diff both sides bad. After every pack I had to pick and shake all the collected debris out. The insides of the rims were so full it threw off the tires balance super bad. In need of the arm mud flaps big time. It's all good, was a solid shake down day and made lots of notes of things I want and need to address.

Gonna make the mud gaurds for the rear arms tonight and I'll be ready to rock for the weekend.
I think I have a bad cell in one of my 8000mah 4s packs(CrapAmps,Go figure ?) Going to remove the cell and hopefully salvage the pack into a 5000-6000mah and make it more useable for the buggy application.

Very nice. wish I lived close by to have you do the chassis mod to fit the guards. What did you use to punch the holes?

i would say a drill

I used a 1/8" drill bit and a 15/64" for the counter sink. I had to make a slit in the rear of the gaurd to make it bend to conform to the chassis and filled the gap with thick CA and kicker.

does look good that!! should cut down on 90% of the dirt i would think. you going to add any cooling holes to the shell now there is less airflow through the body gap?
