I didn't get anything from Castle, but I just got tracking info from UPS. Next Monday will be a good day, got 2 packages coming in
All I ever wanted was an honest weeks pay for an honest days work.

My question is when will these be hitting the big Dealers? IE Tower... I got a birthday coming and I could use this as an excuse for a bigger motor LOL

Right now our quantities are pretty limited on these motors. We should be getting more in late Jan.

I got my tracking info yesterday, it says it should show up today. Now how can I leave work to set up my ambush on the UPS guy? Ding Dong.....(Spilt second later, acting all casual like I was just walking by the door when the door bell rang instead of sitting in stealth mode waiting for the sound of the brownie truck) "Hello?"

The shaft size is also wrong on the chart for the 1717 Somehow they conveniently missed this error, it's 6.0mm! Anyway here are some pics.

Hmmmm............I wonder if Castle will start carrying the pinions for the 6mm shaft size?
Nobody offers them at a fair price as of yet.

If you use a plastic spur then SDP-SI has 12, 14, 15, 18, 20 tooth 6mm bore Mod1 pinions in carbon steel for $10-18 depending on the gear. These could possibly be hardened and used with steel spur gears...

How much of a PITA would it be to drill out one of Mike's pinions? What do machine shops usually charge to have a shaft turned down?

Take both peices(pinion/motor shaft) in and see what they say which would be easier/cheaper. Keep us posted if you decide to do this !
I retired from RC, now life is all about guns and long range shooting.

The SDPI gears are made from 12L14 - can be case hardened (at home even with some kasinite and a torch). It wouldn't be worth trying to ream/bore one of my pinions - they are through hardened and are too hard - it would require a stiff, beefy lathe, an expensive tool and coolant to even make a go at it.
