I hear ya, but selling my DX3S and the 10 Receivers to buy another TX and 10 RX's to have a light display, definitely not practical.

Here's an interesting tidbit for ya Bondo. I don't know much about the charger in question, but all you would need for this is some operating voltage in the proper range.
http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbyking/s...ip-White_(1mtr)
I have one of these in front of me. They are very bright. This strip comes to you a meter at a time. Within this meter, are 60 bright little boogers. Divided into groups of 3, they can be cut and used.
Cut, Wire it up, then all you have to do is figure out where to stick it. LOL
 It's only about 3mm thick.
If your charger uses 12 volts as a power supply, wire it up to that. If your charger is getting power, then it's display is lit up.
Crap! I just realized you're talking a transmitter? Right? LOL
I'm not going to edit this. Now you can do your charger too if you wanna.

Great you caught this, saves me from having to break your balls.
Wounderful suggestion Sir !
Me and a buddy bought several different kinds of Plane/Heli LEDs from HC, when I get them I surely will look into cutting some up. I should be able to tap into the TX's Lipo (3s 800mah w/Castle Voltage regulator) for the juice I need.
I am adventurous about doing stuff like this but a tick hesitant to mod my 250.00 TX even more ? The price to pay for uniqness I reckon ?

Yup. But I don't see Spektrums getting backlighting unless they make a screen with it already, as an OEM feature or as an add-on. One can always hope...
As an aside, here's my little foray into LEDs:

I put these on my dragsters for visibility when racing in the dark.

Weirdos...
I looked up backlights for the dx6i- there are some good tutorials and very cheap kits out there, simple wiring too. Might have a dabble over easter when I have some holiday time..

Interesting thing you said that sike, I'm listening to a heli/plane podcast, and also remembered about my computer modding stuff I'm about to buy...
I could, theoretically, toss it in my case (computer case), surround the transparent window, and have the same effect as a cold cathode.. interesting..
And I was looking at my monitor, and noticed behind it (my wall) is quite bare... I could pick up some blue or red, and put it on my monitor facing the wall to have a nice glow effect....
Hmm

I also will be sending the lipo telementry dealie-O I bought from HC, he will look into it and possibly do a screen for it as well ?

This is one of his red panels for the DX3S

I like where this thread is going, any tips for the metal thumb wheels while we're at it. I saw a few companies that make those as well for the Dx3r/s. The plastic is either getting old or the sensor is worn out. Metal would be nice.
Oh and how hard are those skins in terms of application?

The thumb is still to expensive for my tastes, since it's only used once in while I haven;t commited to buy one yet, Curious to hear someones experiences with one myself ?
The skins are easy to apply, caution and taking your time is very importatnt. These decals stick like a SOB so any mistakes made are a permanent F-up.
They are extremely durable and the cool factor is through the roof with the hundreds of designs and colors availible. The only con is their expensive.
Prep is also important, a good TX cleaning with Q-tips w/alcohol first would be highly recomended.

I was thinking of getting one for my dx3s, so many folks at my track have the same radio. I was keeping my eyes on the blue flames skin. Very attractive.
