Yeah, I was pretty psyched about that as well - as long as it's not based on the US Focus (yuk). I picked the MZ3 out of a Toyota Carolla RSX, Civic Si, Jetta, and PT Cruiser GT.
I really like it a lot. It came with 205/50R17 wheels but I got some 225/40R18 tires and black alloys and it really looks good. Once the windows are tinted, it'll look better. I also custom built an amplifier rack ( pic1, pic2 ) into the hatch floor, so I have some nice tunes as well. :)
I was going to wait until the 'speed 3 came out, but it was taking too long. Besides there is a turbo kit that is made specially for the 3 that some people are getting good numbers with (~250-350HP depending on boost level). It goes pretty good at stock, while getting halfway decent gas mileage in these days of high fuel prices.

Papa - Im not too sure that you can do the same type of conversion - If you dont have navigation then i am assuming that you need to replace the stock screen (that displays all the trip info etc) with a color monitor. That part might be expensive. After that it becomes pretty easy. They make a switch that switches from screen to dvd - put a auto dvd player in the car and thats it.

Brian - I have a friend that has a 3 - he loves it - says it flies and looks cool too...

HotnCold: I was talking to Mike a while ago and he did mention that you had an Evo VIII. I have always been a big fan of the 4G63 motors. While in Iraq my wife told me that the dealership had a Evo IX MR. She was supposed to get rid of the max for it but it never happened. Next time I guess. Are you planning on modding your max at all? I am waiting for a turbo kit or supercharger kit for mine.

The older SE-Rs were overall much better cars than the new generation.

Is that you autocrossing in that pic? What tires are you running? I used to run Yokahama A008's on my truck when I would autocross it. I loved the sound of the little rocks and pebbles flinging up into the wheel-well when the tires were heated up.
Yea, thats me. I use Hankook Z212 RS-2s, which if you havent heard of them, are pretty comparable to Falken Azenis Sports. Theyre technically a street tire, but barely. Theyre the stickiest tire Ive ever driven on.

A little sulfur never hurt anyone - LMAO - actually the funny part is that in the left corner ( in the cloud of sulfur) is a huge belt driven compressor. If you could only imagine how much that belt slips with all the soot on it - OMG:005:

HotnCold, that engines hitting max power at 2,750rpm, the red line can't be much higher than 3,000rpm. Do you never want anything a bit more revvy? Its all about the revs!!! :D:D:D

Hey, HotnCold - sounds like another gasser that hasn't experienced "The Dark Side, huh?!?!?!

BTW., nice run. What are you running? Twins by chance?

Actually it redlines at 3740 rpm.. For a diesel thats pretty high :005: - And I have to confess - the dyno sheet is from a friend of mines dodge running twins. (good call Thiessen). My chevy dosent put out that much power. It is my work truck/family hauler so twins is out of the question. My best is close to 900 ft lbs at the wheel and 468 hp at the wheels on the dyno, corrected. My best is 0-60 mph in 6.3 seconds in 2wd ( i wont launch in 4wd - ill snap my driveshafts in the front ( torsion bars cranked up ). And 1/4 mile was in 13.9 sec - with a horrible 0-60ft of 2.5 sec. I couldnt keep the wheels from moving while holding the brakes to build boost.

It may be all about the revs - but the face of these guys with mustang GTs, lightning pickups and ram SRT-10's when you go by (at 3700 rpm) .......Priceless....

Yes, your 0-60 and 1/4 mile don't match up, but your 60 foot time explains it.:dft002: :D
Was your trap speed somewhere around 100mph or so?
