i cant believe nothing happend to the lower arm! I guess the bulk gave way instead... im thinking now, because i have alloy bulks, if i did have a crash like that.. the arm would have to give out...

The flm arms are obviosuly very very tough!!!

This is what the hobby is all about... build and expensive fast truck and launch it off a jump as fast as possible and then saying.. whats the worst that can happen! haha

Yep!... I love when builders can show all the work and effort they put into a rig.. to me, it's even better when they can take that car/truck out and have fun with it...
I was never a big fan of building an 'RC' vehicle only to have it 'shine' on a shelf (though I respect those who prefer to build and admire... it's just not for me)... fix and get
it back out there man... waiting for more of those vids.

I am pretty sure the fastening for the hinges in the bulkhead would snap in similar scenario - pure physics of what happens when a 15lbs projectile hits the ground on the tip of a 4inch lever

Unfortunately the video is quite blurry, but it landed from the sky, more or less straight down on the right arm.

Angry - next time I'll jump from the side of the hill, were the angle is sharper at the top of the hill and the ground is flat where I need to accelerate. Unfortunately it was all wet there this time..

Yesterday during my lunch I drove home and searched the crash site in daylight - and yes, I found the dogbone!! It is not bent at all, but It's a little twisted.

HAHA great news! it is like looking for a needle in a haystack!
Im very tempted to start spraying my dogbones a bright colour so they are more easy to find in these difficult situations

Some people put bright colored heatshrink tubing on their driveshafts. I would use a bright pink or yellow paint pen myself.

I took some time trying to straighten the arm again. A long time and many skinned knuckles later it look like this:



Pretty darn OK, considering how hard it was.

Haha... well instead of buying anther one... why dont you use plastic upper arms with adjustable turn buckle instead?

From the start I used the kit just because I wanted the dogbones (could not be bought as spares before), my intention was to mold arms in Kevlar. But the alloy arms has been holding pretty tough crashes and I realized after my first testing (early in the thread) that the Kevlar - arms would scatter from the gravel, so I guess I just forgot it..

mckrill have you been following this thread on LST HUBS ON A SAVAGE???
as we all know the savage hubs and dog bones are a weak point

LST Hubs can utilise 3 large bearings, and have CVDS and proper hex system.
This is a more robust option... Problem is, the lower arms of a savage are a little short...
But if you can mould your own arms, you could have an awesome setup...

i have some spray paint... ill spray some on and let it dry... I was always losing drive shafts...
