this is such an awesome setup! I love it! As long as you can maintain enough structural rigidity and lose enough weight, this will handle so well for a savage!!!

I wish my current build, utilised a similar setup!
You now have plenty of space to mount things above the lipos! Maybe even a large 12s ESC ;) and have the battery slots large enough to take a 4-5s lipo each ;) And a huge motor in the rear haha

Anyway loving it!

Took the G-Savage for a test run and it handles MUCH better than it did last year!! :)

Since I havent balanced the new wheel/rim bombo I ran the old terra pins... still feels a little like driving an elephant on stilts at high speeds - but much less than last year! Im hoping the Mashers will perform better due to the lower side wall (and taping).

Turning radius is absolutely great (tho I dont really understand why a CD help in this area? This was especially noticeable when I let got of the gas and turned at reasonable speeds the truck would turn on a dime! Sweet :)

Will have to play with CD oil... couldn't make the damn thing wheelie no matter what I did! Need to find the golden optimum between handling and MT behaviour!

Will update with some pictures once wireing is done nicely :)

And I still have to figure out how to secure the bats... strapping tape around the TVP's doesn't look good at all... but it works ;)

I have some untaped 40 series masters on my xl length flux and they handle much better than I expected. They handle great for being such large tires. Also, I have mine mounted to some axial beadlock rims.

They say a good mechanic only needs 2 tools - WD40 & Duct tape. If it moves, and its not supposed to, duct tape. If it doesn't move, and its supposed to, WD40.

For my XL length build with CD:-
100K CD fluid - difficult to wheelie and sustain.
500K fluid - easy to wheelie but can be hard to sustain as front wheels still spin up a bit.
Ofna diff lock fluid - v.close to feel of the stock gearbox. easy to wheelie and sustain.

A quick picture of the fatty's ground clearance with Terra pins. I put 1½cm of fuel tube inside the shocks in order to get horizontal "arms"

Here they are:

Thus I have an "on-road" as well as an "off-road" shock set :)

The truck weights in at 6,5kg (14,33 pounds) with the 1717, terra pins and 2 x 5800mAh Turnigys

Looks good Nixpus! I do like how you did the batteries, was thinking of the same thing if I redo my Savage 5T conversion.

In my RC8Te I run 50K in the CD and on 5S/6S can wheelie pretty much on demand; granted it peters out when the power shifts to the front wheels, but it is sustainable. Not nearly so as the locked Savage. Did want to try the Ofna diff lock fluid on a spare diff though, at least for bashing.

Same truck and I think I'm running 50k also, could be 100k. My wheelie won't fall though and it nearly does a backflip. Probably would if the spoiler didn't get in the way. That's running 5s with an 1800kv geared 18/44. Can't use full throttle until I'm doing 30+ and having to flip the truck back over gets old real quick. I'd like to try something like 30k.

looks awesome!!! But i would really like to see the handling performance increase from the LCG using tyres with a thinner side wall!!!! Great Work!

Your right Knez :) Some day I'll have to do a truck which can drive on both sides!

Just weighted the thing without bats and wheels...
My build: 4180grams
Std flux: 4007grams

The wide skid plate + dog bone guard alone weigh 343grams... whic means I'll tick in under a flux once I've removed some alu

Just balanced my mashers... so I'll know how it performs with low sidewall tires quite soon!

Will see if I can make a vid at some point.

hmmm thats reminded me.. maybe i should balance my baja wheels and tyres.... ill look at it tonight and see how bad they are...

Im impressed with your overall weight! NOT BAD AT ALL!!! and with some lightening, you will be on to a winner here with the LCG and stronger centre diff setup!

Keep us posted!

I used taggy wax. Pretty straight forward... but it doesn't look super pro!

Truck with Mashers look better than with Terra pins:

Swapping CD oil later and checking high speed handling :)

The weight doesn't surprise me. With the radio box, gearbox and battery boxes gone you lose a lot of weight. My build is XL length and weighs less than a stock flux.

Those tires look great. Do the Axial 40 series wheels have an offset? Looks like they do. I guess all 40 series wheels would have to. I haven't used them before. What does the wheel\tire combo weigh?

That wax looks like blu-tac which is what i use. It ain't pretty but it's fast, easy and doesn't go anywhere once you get it on there.

Depends... not all the tires are the same width. Big Joes are the widest. The new ProLine Tech 5 wheels, otherwise you gotta go with the Axials, don't have any offsets.
