Successful 5S LIPO run on Mamba Max

Thank you for posting this. I have been kicking around the idea of puting the MM in a 1/8 buggy on 5s and wasnt sure if I wanted to trust the MM to be stable at 5s. From what you are seeing it sure looks like it will be fine in a smaller lighter buggy vs the Revo. You have convinced me.

BTW: You arent kidding about that thing having some kick either. It looked like it was literally jumping off of the ground without a ramp when you punched it. Nice work.

They are HPI GT tires actually. badlands are rather cool, and probably a ton lighter..

I couldn't recommend going 6S, 5S is already pushing it. I think if I did alot of WOT grass drving it would thermal even with the fan. 6s would have to be a pretty high turn motor to keep the amp draw down to even consider it, even then its over the caps rating of 25V.

I drive in the street or on dirt just bashing, so it works for me. For long term use I think I will prob go to a MMMax for a larger margin of safety, but it works really well for now.

Yeah, a fully charged regular 6s pack exceeds the working voltage rating of the three caps outside the ESC. Who knows what the internal parts are rated for...

Another thing is that the built in cutoff won't go up to 18V

Are the lipos cold? That has a big effect on lipo performance. But still, I wouldn't think an 8000mah pack would hit 3v per cell... what motor is this on?

Lipos were room temp but it wasn't the problem. After reprogramming the MM to "No - Cutoff" I had no problems and it ran perfectly.

Can't see much point trying 6s. You'd need a UBEC and cut-off/LVC, plus it would run really warm, more worth while going for the Quark or MGM.

I guess on 5s you would need a UBEC to?

You can if you have FireFox and install the VideoDownloader plugin.

When using IE (internet explorer), once the video is downloaded, it is usually temporarily stored in your temporary internet files folder (usually under C:\documents and settings\username\local settings\temporary internet files\). So, after it downloads, just make a copy to wherever you want. This usually works for AVI, MPG, etc types of files, but does not work for Flash files (SWF). Actually, it usually can be done for SWF files too, but needs extra steps I won't go into here.

The exception to all of this is if the video is actually a realtime stream, which can't be done with IE without some third party app AFAIK.

Yeah.. with 4S a ubec is wise.

Reason for 6s is no one else seems to have an esc to run it. It is a few but cost alot more.
