I'm sure Mike is a good racer and all, but he is a very good club level racer with VERY good equipment. (No offense Mike I could be wrong here:013: ) These sponsored guys are in a whole other league driving wise. I think that no matter how much better the truck is it would be very unlikely to beat a guy like Slayden who is at the top of the game.

Now Slayden with Mikes truck against the nitros.... THAT I would like to see!

I can't decide if its more fun
to make it...
or break it...

Silent...But Deadly

steve (and others)is a good driver, but damn if he didnt have a TON of luck as well. he would have bad landings, cartwheels, just like anyone else, but damn if he didnt land on the wheels or come out smelling like a rose in some manor

To be honest, I think Mike could put Slayden to shame on a good day...I have a friend (Derek Guidry) from my local track that was giving him a damn good run for hims money at the 2006 USMT races...He actually won. Perhaps Slayden would have if he hadn't had a gear strip, but who knows...Here is the link to Slayden's rundown of the race.

The factory drivers do things on the track that seem impossible to most of us... but I will say that there are a lot of local fast guys that can give them a run for their money at least occasionally and at least on their home track.

But in general... I agree... they are on a different level than 99% of club racers.

luck is a BIG BIG BIG Part in ANY nitro class. I race pretty decent, its jsut that i cant tune and i get slammed with overheating, poor performance and flamming out. Now problems like these dotn arrive in brushlesss.

Slayden is good, but not the best, there are alot of good racers out there!

The problem with nitro's these days are that they arent brushless... LOL

I have seen them both race, on the same track. Slayden has the advantage.

Slayden had 4 sec./lap on the track and got 9 laps to Mikes 8. Mike is good by all means, but you guys should see Slayden in action...dude is crazy good. He was pulling off passes on offcamber sections with only a 15" wide path...most people struggled to make it through it, he was passing in it.

Thats what you call precision driving skill. I have done some pretty hairy passes myself at a local track (very tight, small track built for 1/10 Buggies and ST's - and I drive my G2R on it!).

The key is to not get nervous - and he obviously doesn't. That is usually what seperates the best from the rest - they can keep their cool in the craziest of situations.

I've pulled off a pass by literally drifting around the outside of a high speed, but sharp turn. One mistake and my truck would have been into a concrete wall at well over 30mph. However, I kept my cool and it came out fine. After a few laps, I tried to do the same thing - got nervious right as the turn started and spun out (broadsided the wall, busted my front left rockerpost on my G2R)... This was all during practice though, since I need a personal transponder. :007:

Its kind of rediculous actually...between the truck, batteries, and other support equipment, I have about $3500 invested...but I can't seem to get a ~$100 transponder... :031: :035: :019:

lol. It's one of those things you know you should get, but it doesn't improve or add anything to the setups...

I have a vid of a Bash that MetalMan and I did with buddies of ours. In the beginning there's a drag race of a Rustler 2.5 vs a Revo 2.5R vs my G2R vs MetalMan's BL Revo. His Revo flipped on its lid (even with a center diff lol), I took off - but slow because my slipper was slipping, and the N-Revo and N-Rustler were left in the dust.

I guess I'll post it up here after I make this post.
