Fairly fresh- he was 95% dead, so I stuck him in a glass of water, and put him in the freezer for a few hours. Sounds aweful, but it sends them to sleep, and they dont wake up again. Then the fish-cube got flushed down the toilet, to the sound of me humming the last salute.

Yes, I am odd.

Took the truck out today- no video as I forgot the camera, d'oh. Sister's boyfriend took some mobile footage though, so I'll see if I can upload that later.

Medusa is absolutely awesome! Maximum temp for the motor was about 156*F, with hard running on a warm day. I did stop for 5 minutes a couple times to let it cool down, but I didnt really need to- more for my benefit than the trucks.

Zippy lipos were brilliant too, didnt get above 92*F. When I noticed them loosing a bit of punch after about 30 miuntes or so I bought the truck in to check the voltages- all the cells in the ~3.5-3.7v region still, but I decided to swap them out for the A123s. Seems that the 5th cell in each lipo does discharge little quicker than the other 4 though, but it isnt a massive difference so Im not concerned (0.2v lower).

The A123s are still going strong, but they arent a match for the Zippies in terms of punch and runtime, feels less punchy (less wheelie power), and get warmer during a run. Still great for what they are, but Im thinking about selling them to get some more Zippies (5000mah instead of 4000mah next time I reckon).

Hows the truck going Neil?! Whats the current weight? Can you use the Gorillamaxx towers with any arms? And can you even get them without buying the ~$350 suspension set?

Still on the fat-bastard side of heavy (12-13lbs fully loaded), it really doesnt bother me as I have no one to race but myself... and dogs sometimes...

The Gmaxx arms will indeed work with most towers, but to get the most benefit from the geometry its best to use them with the gmaxx towers- I tried FLM towers and Nova rc low profile towers and it just didnt feel right, or look right either. You should be able to get the arms seperately if you look in the spare parts section on the Gorilla website.

The plan tomorrow is to take my truck down the woods and do some FOFF style driving up steep gravelly and muddy banks, see how this thing handles on something other than grass for a change. We (sister's boyfriend, his friend and myself) will film it hopefully, should be lots of fun.

Well, the Great (not) British weather decided it didnt want me to go play, and instead its been pissing down with rain all day- maybe tuesday now instead.

Nova RC, they dont seem to have low profile towers listed, but I swear they do exist... somewhere.

You could use the GM towers with normal arms, but you would need shorter shocks to compensate for them not being so laid down like ion the full GM setup, otherwise the truck would end up looking like its on stilts..

Yeah but could you just limit the suspension for that low stance meaning better handling? Or would the shocks bottom out before the truck does meaning destroyed shocks?

Nah, sold them a long time ago- DUH Engineering has low profile towers though that are very similar.

The issue with using short towers with normal length shocks is quite serious though- if you used some fuel tube on the inside of the shocks to act as limiters is would only leave you with about 5mm of shock travel before they did indeed bottom out and explode or bend like twigs. If you look at the pics of my truck, the shocks are laid down at 45 degrees or lower even, meaning you'd need shocks about 25% shorter than normal if you were to mount then onto normal arms whislt using GM towers.

I think the best compromise would be DUH or Nova towers, and some 1/8 scale shocks that are shorter than normal maxx shocks- buggy or truggy rears are what I use, but I recommend doing some careful measuring to see what length you need with the suspension arms level to represent slammed suspension- or something like that.

gives low pro street slammed look.

I also need g-maxx towers for my upcoming maxxler build.

I'm not fimiliar with that method of limiting. Sort of went over my head aswell.

I was talking about putting zipties (i use colored ones matched to my color scheme so it doesn't look wack) through the shock towers and around the top a-arm. Fairly common practice. Does that still sound like it would murder the shocks.

Common, but hack

You'll still be left with lousy travel, and very bouncy shocks since they will be about 80% compressed all the time, permanently squahing the springs and weakening them.

Harold's idea with the revo shocks is good- seen that done with normal maxx arms and towers, but again, since you're using GM towers and normal arms I strongly recommend playing with the tape measure; this isnt the sort of thing I or anyone could guess at to find the best length shocks.

One last thought is that if you go to fleebay, you can pickup entire GM rollers for the cost of just the towers sometimes, which is well worth concidering...

Neil, I will be doing that method of limiting only when I'm racing or parking lot bashing and like I said they are red and match some of the scheme the rest of the truck looks fairly pimp. I guess I could try to find Strobe limiters?

Okay so if I have to get new shocks it may not be worth it at all, especially since its only for that slammed stance that I will rarely need.
