Arggg!!! Loved the video... Right up to the maxamps part.
Blasphemy to put a great company like Castle in with the lowest of the low. It doesn't bring down my opinion of Castle, but some poor uneducated noob is going to buy MA overrated underperforming lipo's just because they were associated like that. Not good for the hobby when a buggy like this could bring in it's own market, only to have those people get burned by MA right out of the gate.
If I could only draw what I see in my head, then afford to build it, and finaly get to play with it...

Sorry but these packs do perfectly well in the baja. I stand by my choice of the packs for this car.
I've probably put 10 packs through the car now and I'm still all smiles.

Arct1k, I'll be brief as this is not a "Bash MA" thread, but I do believe that Castle is adding to the hobby, where MA has just the opposite effect. They overcharge For their product and my experience with their customer service was soo poor that it put me off to lipo/brushless RC entirely for a long time. It ws only after I was upset at looking at my electric's sitting on my work bench for months collecting dust that I decided to purchase some reasonably priced lipo's and get back into it. I've since purchased 2 Castle motors, a MMM, and I should be recieving my XL any day now.
Your decision to support MA may be fine for you (assuming you aren't paying shelf price for the MA packs) but it is in my opinion a bad thing to do to the RC hobby as a whole, especially those people who are willing to spend the cash to get into a new hobby without the awareness of bad companies like MA. In the end your benefitting by endorsing a product that rips off the small guy, that makes this hobby a business in the first place.
Please reconsider, I'm sure MA is not the only lipo company who will sell Castle discounted lipo's for testing.
If I could only draw what I see in my head, then afford to build it, and finaly get to play with it...

Just wondering, if on boards people know MA is bad, why does a company as Castle work together with them?

Well, MA give out lipos to the magazines. So the magazines use them. I can imagine they give CC lipos too.
MA lipos are not the big problem, it is MA themselves. I have had a few decent packs from them that actually work, and their QC has generally gone up over the years. Yes they are still overpriced, and yes there are better lipos out there. But as Chris says, they will get the job done.

To clarify this was an RCDriver project in conjunction with Castle - Choice of Maxamps Packs was with Driver and myself not with Castle.
I'm well aware of the Maxamps issues and I´ve had several Maxamps packs let go over the years and have had the warranty issues. However in there way Maxamps do do A LOT for the RC Hobby in a positive way.
Am i happy about there C ratings - NO.
Do I mind they charge a lot of there packs - Mixed
However they do a great deal in terms of advertising and sponsoring events - Without which Magazines wouldn't get published and some sites wouldn't exist. So I am glassey eyed about Maxamps NO, would I like to see there rating system enhanced YES.

Yah Linc, MA will do the job. But so would Turnigy, Blue lipo, Zippy, Neu Energy, or any others that have a reasonable cost, better customer service and a warantee that actually can be used.
A good lipo company would add to Castles product satisfaction AND keep people happier with the hobby in general.
P.s. I can't see Castle paying shelf price for lipo's from MA, it just doesn't make good business sense.
If I could only draw what I see in my head, then afford to build it, and finaly get to play with it...

I don't think we've ever had a MaxAmps pack at Castle, so I don't have any opinion one way or the other.
We get samples of Lipos from lots of manufacturers -- and I think our own test Baja uses packs from Desire battery -- a Chinese OEM.

I know this is not the right place, but this is something that has bothered me, by being brought up in the past, and seems to have been addressed here.

I wish that was a company policy, as this

The best LiPo packs on the market right now that we've tested thoroughly are the NeuEnergy 5000 30C, FlightPower Eon 5000 30C, Thunder Power 5000 40C, Thunder Power 5200 50C, Thunder Power 5300 65C, and MaxAmps 5250 and 6500 packs.

is straight from this http://www.castlecreations.com/suppo...a_monster.html , and has been quoted to me in the past.
Perhaps we could get a little edit :)

OK, I don't think we've ever had a MaxAmps pack in ENGINEERING at Castle.
I think those recommendations come from our Tech Support guys, based on their testing with the ERevo.

We also need to the realize that just about any 30c 5000mah battery will work halfway decent for much of what we do. The old 20c lipos would have issues. I am sure MA recent offerings (save for the 150c) are ok. Prices are still a bit steep, but as Chris mentioned MA do alot of advertising and promotional stuff so the money has to come from somewhere.
And as HV setups get more popular we will see the c rating thing get to be problematic, as the lower capacity packs with high c ratings will get popular for weight savings... Puff time for the bad ones!!!

I can confirm from my experience that is the case, apparently there are quite a number of them kicking around the facility, or so I'm told

I need to ask the good people here a quick off topic question. Just really fast and not trying to deviate from the issue. As a shop owner I don't take personal check or MO. When purchasing from anyone I alsways pay via CC. If you were dealing with a company that, even after you pay via CC, offers a substantial discount for MO, continues to insist on MO, would you not be suspicious? One more request for a MO and I'm gonna cancel my order.
I appreciate the responses.
