Hi I have a backorder in for the MedUsa 36 60 1600 v2, I currently run a 9XL.

Should I be waiting for the 70MM motor? I am OK with the power of the 9XL but I am not happy with the heat. Looking for a more efficient motor.

The 60mm should do fine for you. My 50mm runs cooler then the XL's I've heard of geared for about the same speed in a Maxx. Since I upgraded to the Neu 1512-2.5D I also went to 6s A123's and this truck is awesome now, the Neu does tend to run a bit warmer then the Medusa did though.

Your really going to like the Medusa

I ran my 1500 60mm today 6s geared 20/68 and am getting really hot on the motor and controller after just a few minutes.. Is this too much? According to the speed calculator it's only 37 mph. I am using an mgm 16018.

Can you define really hot?

My truck was radared at 42mph but geared for 33mph FWIW. So with gearing for 37mph(about the same as my current setup) I expect it's doing into the mid to upper 40's. A quick calc say's I should be close to 47mph with my setup, and I would say it feels close to that. My motor is getting up to mid 140's which does feel quite hot to the touch, but perfectly acceptable.

I need to get a infrared thermometer but right now it gets too hot to touch even for a second.

It's relative to the amount of pain you can take but 140F for me is too hot even for a second. You really need a thermometer to tell for sure.

A little spit always help to determine temps . If your spit (a drop of water will do too ) boils on the motor then you know the temps are at 212 degrees F or above.

212 is to hot. I would say for the motor you want to keep it below 160.

It was 90 out yesterday and I tested a stadium truck out in some uncut grass the ESC was 150 and the motor was 140 after about 5-7 min. I am worried about the ESC I will try again after I cut grass to see what temp is then.

Concerning to hot to the touch. At 140 I could touch for about 1 second. It was not comfortable at all. In hot weather like we are having now I think I would be happy to see 150 on motor after a full battery. I know my 9XL will not last a full pack before it gets to that temp. Hoping the Medusa will do better.

I have the 36 60 1600 V2 on my order. Seems like alot of people went with the 1500, why?

I think there were some 1500s in stock at a few places, The specs on the 1600 do look better.

I just put my 50-3300 into the 1/10 HPI truggy. It's been raining all night so I know the yard is way too wet for any running this morning, I hope to get some runs on it this afternoon though.

160 wouldn't bother me at all. 180 - 190 would.

Well I'm now also a member on the backorder list for the 36-60-2000. Looking to get a more efficient motor than the 8xl I am currently running on 14 cells (nimh) in my 1/8 buggy.

Will be taking the step to lipo within the next year or so, haven't decided between 4s or 5s but it looks like the 2000 would work for either. Just have to gear appropriately.
