Hybrid Revo Power Plant

Here we go again Guys!

After not really being satisfied with the Driveability and amp draw requirements of the Direct Drive to Diff Revo. It's time to re-vamp the setup.

Here's what I intend to transplant into the Revo.



The Motor was originally a 715kv Century 600 Outrunner. It's stator is a 3530. This is the one that was rewound to a 4 turn motor with a Wye Termination. Estimated kv is now in the 800 to 850 range but with more torque.

It hauls ass in the Original E maxx, but anything over 4S will rip the teeth off the Tranny Output gear.

Traxxas may have answered this problem by coming out with a new tranny that is 2 1/2 times tougher? Well let's see about that.

Now for the parts arrangement:

Custom input shaft made of hardened 5mm rod.

Custom input gear made from the original E maxx input shaft. Temper was first removed, then the holes were tapped for a matching pair of 4mm set screws. Then I re-tempered it, and installed it with Green Loctite. The set screws rest on flat seats that were put into the input shaft with a Dremel tool.

Custom Output Shaft - In order to retain the same length Center CVD's, a Revo Output shaft was used. It's a close match, but there is a shoulder on each side of the center piece that must be removed. This was easily done in a drill press using a file.

Custom Motor Plate with ESC Mount. - Space is pretty limited in the Revo, so this gives us a nice heat sinking place to mount the ESC.

The Input Shaft was intentionally made extra long. If I can come up with a suitable fan, the motor can help pull Air up under the "heat sink" ESC mount.

Plans are to mount a Quark 125 Monster Pro and run this on 6S.

The Revo has the Buggy gears (3.3:1 Ratio) along with RCM's 1/8th Diffs.
