The search I did came up with a motor esc combo that listed the motor kv at like 1290 or something close to that and I couldn't imagine it being all that fast, once I saw it was a 4100kv motor I relized what you are trying to control! Thats a big fast motor Dude! does the stock mmotor mount work? I saw one for 540 sized motors on ebay once.

It mounts in the stock motor mount like a glove. I just had to shave down the small chassis brace that's behind the servo a bit because of the length of the motor. I also went with a smaller cased servo for that same reason as well.

Almost 2 full battery packs through it and only have a broken body post to show for it. I haven't even had to install my aluminum knuckles yet, but I haven't cartwheeled it very much yet...only a couple of times.

Are you able to use bigger pinions or are you limited to only one size? My MLST with a 28mm diamete motor can only accept 27T pinion with a 54T spur.

I'm running a 19T pinion (45T spur) on it right now and could go probably down to a 15T or up to a 23T if need be. It's got a decent amount of adjustability.

That is cool. Are you planning on trying a 23T just to see what it does .

I think I have up to a 21T for it, but I'll have to find a nice parking lot to try it in. It's quite tedious trying to get it up to full speed in front of my house as it loses traction very easily. I may be looking into getting a Bushnell radar gun soon, so I may have to actually radar it and see what it's really doing.

That would be cool to drive though. How fast do you think it's going now? I'm still thinking if I should put my Mega ACn16/15/1 or my Neu 1107/1.5D in a Recoil. Those 2 motors are up there in the Kv.

Lutach,

I have a Recoil with a Hyperion Y-22 6000kv motor in it and it's insane. Running on 3s is about all one can handle on a race course. My ESC is capable of 4s, but I haven't tried any "seriously insane" speed runs yet, despite having a wide open area. Temps are so-so.. I put a fan next to the motor and used the heatsink that came with the brushed motor in the kit to keep things in check.

It's geared for right at 40mph and it's probably realistically somewhere in the 37-38mph range. I need to grab some video of a speed run with it if I can this weekend.

I don't have the Recoil yet. I was trying to see if someone could fit a 28mm motor in them and I know they can as I saw a guy with one in rctech. I do have the YC22-5000 in my MLST and a esc that is 6S capable . I will use the Sidewinder though with the Recoil.

Hey 30mph+ is still fast for this little guys. My MLST is really fun to drive at those speeds . I might put the YS22-3000 back in as I was just in love with the torque it makes and still pushes the MLST t oaround 25mph. Before I installed the 5000 I took my MLST to Xtreme RC Addicts indoor track and it was fun to drive and keep up with the Recoils there .
