Interesting thread, I'd heard rumors that brushless motors used battery current for braking, guess not. But are all BL esc's regenerative?

For that matter, it'd be cool to get a simple explanation of how brushed and brushless braking works. With brushed motors, is braking acheived by just shorting the + and - leads?

Or is reverse polarity induced?

I'm curious because I don't have the option of mechanial brakes, I have a 3906 Emaxx, actually it's 10% Emaxx and 90% battlebot.
And it's just over 13 pounds, so maybe I'll get some wicked regen power back?
