is the copper braid that connects the cells just that stuff that is used on slot cars? something like this, 'cause i am having a hard time finding anything else.

you would be better off using solder wick/braid. You'll get a few metres of the stuff for the same price.

ok so i just finished my first 6s1p a123 pack for my emaxx build and when i plugged the balance tap in to my hyperion EOS0606i charger i get a bunch of beeps saying the balance voltage is too high, i have no idea how to lower the voltage to an acceptable level. suggestions...

Just some semi obvious things you might check:
1) Do you have the latest software? The latest one made the Hyp's a little less restrictive.
2) Triple check the balancer wiring (I'm sure you've done that).
3) Did you make sure you have the voltage set correctly on the charger? Can the charger charge that high? Just a question as I dont know the limits of the particular charger you have.

If nothing else, run the pack down a little and try it then????
