that remindes me, one day at the races everything was quiet, me and my friend sat on the benches to watch the touring cars and the all of a sudden BAM! i looked back and saw smoke and debri flying. turns out that a pack of GPs exploded. that's what you get from charging at 6amps

yeah you have to be careful with lipos, they are a lot more dangerous than most people say. I have a small bunker made of fire bricks to store and charge my lipos in, even using a proper charger, I have mine explode usually one every week or so. Once I had it in my garage not in the bunker and it took out the front end of my car too. It destroyed some of the front panels and motor and electrics. It also sprayed flaming acid everywhere and stripped the paint and wrecked all my tools. I think its worth it for the power though.

WHAT! You have a lipo explode every week! Lipos do not explode they burn hot...

NiMH explode do due to the fact they are encased in a hard metal shell... Very simple chemistry re conversion of a solid to a gas - normal ratio is 1 to 1000 IIRC. This is the principle of the internal combustion engine.

Lipos are not encased and hence gas can escape but the temp can reach up to 500.

The emoticon at the end of the post should (kind of) clear up my actual view for those who haven't picked up on my frustration at people spreading the myth and making lipo's bad rep even worse :P ;)

Spreading rumours and a fake real story is hardly debunking the myth hence my frustration at posts such as this...
