Well, There are a lot of RC shop here but most of them are ON-Road, Buggy, Helis, Boat and Airplane. There are a few MT but they have it just have to wait a little longer or you can preorder from them. HPI, XRAY, and Tamiya have their distributors here so its easier to get them. Traxxas can be a bit difficult. This is why Mike and other USA shops have my loyalty.


Ohh by the way, I think this motor is coming from Macau which is why I got my in 7days.....

Let us know how it does Neil. The factory still haven't fixed my problems. I asked for a 5mm rotor assembly and they sent me 5mm shafts. They told me they would send new motors, but nothing yet.

Now I'm interested in these motors too. I may get one of the smaller ones for one of my TC's since the current feigao I'm using is on its way out.

You can select the shaft size in the List of the motors now.

My 13XL Motor for my E-LST has been sent on August 1st but still hasn't arrived. But my 4900 Rhino lipos arrived last friday, though....

Shipping for me took 15 days, which is pretty average- yours should be turning up soon I bet, though it depends on customs sometimes. The good news is, mine came with a $10 value marked on the customs form, so no import or VAT duty to pay.

Well, first off- damage report:

*bent front Ti bumper from high speed head on collision with concrete steps.
*bent motor mount due to above.
*mutilated wheelie bar from flips
*partially stripped spur
*tyre came unglued, repeatedly
*shell ripping apart around body post holes
* input gear shaft pin busted- ended days play.

Unfortunately, the battery in my temp gun died before I even started running, so I had to use the finger/ spit test; yeah, I was rather unhappy about that too- blame ebay quality batts though, lol.

Anyway, 1st up was the 4s2p setup, with 24/68 gearing. Topspeed was very good, same as with the hobbycity motor, and no lack of punch. Motor warmed up quite quickly, and I did need to take a cooling down break about 2/3rd through the run, at which point the lipos were reading about 4.0v, so holding their voltage well, and only really dropping quickly in the last 5-10 minutes down to 3.6v, at which point I stopped the run as they were quite warm, I'd guess about 120 going on previous experience. Motor at that point had warmed up again, around the 140-150 mark (not too hot to touch, but too hot to hold your finger on for very long).

Next up was the 6s2p A123 batteries, same gearing. Much more speed and punch with this setup, but the weight of these tyres I use is a real test of how much torque a motor can produce before it starts breaking a sweat. The motor warmed up a bit quicker this time, but the power and speed I was seeing was highly impressive for such a heavy rig (13lb), so I carried on bashing for about 10 minutes before taking a break- motor was quite a bit hotter than before, I'd say about 160 or so- you could touch the motor without burning your finger, but not hold it there. I used some spit to cool the motor down quite quickly- just rub it allover the can and the temps really do drop quicky (I got my mini water pump today, will be using water cooling for sure- exotic or not, it will help alot). Once the motor was back down to a nicer 'warm' temp, I switched the 24tooth pinion for a 20toother. Top speed was a bit slower as expected, but the low end was still very impressive and wheelies were no issue at anything below about 2/3rd throttle. Temps remained quite steady this time at the upper end of the sale, say about 150-160, but no higher. Play was only stopped after one too many flips or bumps caused the pin holding the input gear to the input shaft snapped or came out- I will be tearing into the tranny tomorrow to fix that up, and to give the truck a good clean in general.

Overall, I believe these motors to be not much better than a feigao, but with a few advantages:

*single piece magnet, not a segmented one, so will not separate into 2 or 3 pieces that are almost impossible to re-align and re-attach to the shaft.

*cheaper generally. Typical feigao cost is about $60-90 for the same XL motors, where as the smooth version of this motor is $48, the finned version being $46.

In a typical 8-10lb truck, I believe these would make an ideal cheap motor, as will the smaller version for vehicles like 1/10 stadium trucks and such. No amazing low temps, but certainly equal or slightly better than a feigao.

I still await the arrival of the 70mm medusas- 4 pole motors have a definate advantage over 2 pole motors in a heavy application (slower spool up time but greater torque). Video will be up tomorrow in my main Gmaxx thread- editing with MS movie maker is very simple, the but programme is highly unstable and prone to crashing/freezing up, at least on my PC anyway.

Hope this helps a few people when it comes to choosing motors- nice feature is the option for a 3mm or 5mm shaft on most of these.

My advice is buy them from bidproduct, or see if Lutach is going to be getting them anytme soon (having issues with the actual factory supplying him the correct motors for testing). Cheaper than a feigao, yet the same quality or slightly better even.

You cant buy them in the UK- they come direct from China, but the good news is they ship anywhere in the world, shipping is cheap, and customs forms are usually marked at a nice low value to avoid import fees etc.

I'd suggest the smooth can versions if you have limited gearing room, or the finned can version if that isnt an issue for your setup.

I won't be getting them. I got 2 from the manufacturer with the wrong shaft and they won't send me the right ones. So I can't trust a company like that for larger orders. I'm trying to get a 4 pole and 6 pole done by a reliable manufacturer, but again I'm having trouble with them. My best guess will be to buy from the link Neil provided or save some cash for a Neu, Castle's version, Mega, Plettenberg, Medusa, Lightflightrc and the Losi might be good options too. All the 2 pole hacker clones seems to do good for the first few runs and then they'll just get weaker even when not pushed too hard. My KD36-74-15XL went bad from seeing only 45A spike.
