My buddy Zach bought the axial artr and he has ALOT of time on it, and has not had any tranny or diff issues. He did put the mip cvds in the front, but only cause he wanted a bit more steering throw. Axial axles are sturdy, and if you think your son will beat it real hard you may want to put the optional axial slipper clutch on the tranny.

Zach also runs the 55t/sidewinder in his ax10 so it is a proven setup to me. He really likes it, excellent low speed control and plenty of wheel speed. He runs 14/87 gearing (stock axial) and it is very capable. I

run a cheapo outrunner in my gatekeeper knock off with axial axles and a sidewinder. Cost me 12 bucks, but I do have to run 32p gearing as the motor has a 5mm shaft. 833kv with 16/54 gearing on 3s is about the same as the 55t on 3s lipo, speedwise.

Depending on the servo you plan to run you may need to run a ubec with 3s lipo. I use a jr 9000t and is pulls some juice, a 645 hitec or similar would be fine with the internal bec... With the internal bec and that jr servo the spectrum rx would turn off when the servo hit its endpoint...

Thanks James. I'll be using a Hitec 5955TG and a Dimension Engineering Sports Bec. I'll setup the output voltage of the ubec to 6V.

Damn, that is a powerful servo. You will have fun with this truck, all it really needs to be comp worth is about 6oz of weight in each front wheel and a few oz in each rear.

I need to dig through my parts bin for the lead weights I bought sometime ago .

Edit-What size are the wires on the sidewinder? Does it come with any connectors?
