That same exact thing happend to my brother in laws HV system. They repaired it under warranty. You can see my thread on it in the Novak section.
My advice is to contact Novak customer service.

Well from that photos it looks like it shorted on whatever it was strapped to, hence there is only heat damage on one side of the CAP. The melted leg may be the location of the actual short?

I think its internal on the capacitor. That's exactly the damage I saw on my B'in laws capacitor/circuit board, and his was zip tied to the stock shock tower on his E , which is plastic.
Just my humble opinion, but I think the circuit board they have on the Pro systems is somehow getting damaged by people zip tying it in the wrong spot or debris in it causing the shorts.

The newer red capacitor units have blighted the updated hvmaxx systems since their introduction (replacing the old black/darkblue cap). Welcome to the club- just hit novak up with an email to their CS department and they will most likely ask you to send in the esc for inspection, replace the cap and any other damaged parts, and mail it back to you. FYI- there is a Novak sub-forum for just such issues
