you know how theres like 6s lipo and 8s lipo and 11s lipo etc isnt the higher the number the more powerful the batteries? like 12s is more powerful than 6s. If so then why dont you get 12s lipo and one of those bigger powerful motors with a good controller? I'm not a lipo guy so go easy on me if im wrong :) lol

weight is the main reason. also, if you make 12s packs out of 4000mah cells and get 12000 mah like he wants that would be 36 cells!

A pair of 4s1p in series of decent mah with an efficient motor, can give you 25 mins of runtime. Are you sure you want such long runtimes?Personally i would get bored driving for hours at a time. Also if it's not for long races i wouldn't run any packs in parallel, just get an extra pair of packs(same cost) and change batteries if you want to stay out longer. It'd mean less weight hence less amps, less heat, longer runtimes. Also less breakages due to lower inertia and better handling.

I wouldn't go with a wanderer XL for these kind of runtimes unless you keep the rpms way down(30,000 ish),unless you want to stop to let everything cool down frequently.A Lehner 1950,2240 or 2250 should run cooler for longer.

If you have the money i'd suggest a 1950/10 or 11 turn with a 3695 or 36120 on a pair of 4s1p packs in series and an extra pair of packs(not on the truck ie no cells in parallel) if you want the extra runtime. The higher efficiency of the 8s compared to 6s4p will keep you running cooler for longer and with more power to boot, since you'll be running a big low kv motor.

two 4s1p packs wired in series would give me 8s2p right? If so, 29 volts is a little too much. This is b/c the 36 cell controller cost too much. I would be looking for two 3s2p packs wired in series to make 6s4p. I don't want too high of a voltage. I'm calling Maxamps this morning to see what batts I should get, then i'll look for motors.

Maybe a 6s2p? But i'll check w/maxamps

Okay, my final battery selection w/ the help of the maxamps crew. I will be ordering 2 3s2p packs, which give a combined total of 6s2p.

So i'll be running 22.2 volts and 8000mah.

22.2/1.2=18.5

So I'll need a controller rated for 19 cells.
And a high turned motor.

RC monster doesn't have a 12xl in the wanderer series, unless you have one mike.

Mike, what motor and esc do you have that would work for this application? Thank you.

A pair of 4s1p in series would give you 8s1p,8 cells in series.
If you want a significant increase in power over your existing setup i'd suggest going 8s or 7s,also for the increased efficiency over 6s.You can always adjust the EPA on your radio.

A pack change half way through the run will mean your not lugging unnecessary weight around, since paralleling isn't necessary for your amp draw.If we were talking about a 5 or 6 turn high amp motor that's gonna drain your packs in seconds and pull nearly 200 amp peaks then sure paralelling is the way to go.

If you're wanting 6s i'd buy 4 3s1p instead of 2 3s2p and go for a pack change, much better to carry them in your pocket than on the truck.

I'm just a basher, not concerned much with weight. Especially since i'll be using a high turn xl motor.

SO:

I'll Keep the 9920
Use a wanderer 12xl
2 3s2p lipo packs
5mm gold connectors everywhere

The goal of this system is to run cool, run as little amps as possible (to ensure longetivity), get about 30-45 mph, 30-45 minutes of runtime, have massive power, and put the lowest strain possible on the 9920 esc.

I am going to get an 11XL on 20 cells for my savage! with the 2speed and the mechanical brake, i doubt if it will work a sweat.

So a 12xl on 19 cells will be perfect then.

Fusion pair of 8 cell zapped gp3300. 4mm female plugs installed $90

Running 2 3s2p still makes no sense when you can run 2 3s1p and stop to change batts, running twice the battery weight only puts more strain on your 9920, reduces efficiency, increases temps, reduces performance and runtime. Also since 'bashers' need to be durable then low weight is very important.I seriously doubt you'll be able to run for that long without stopping to let it cool down anyway,so you may aswell half your battery weight and increase your performance and runtime, then your not wasting alot of the packs energy carting around the extra load.
