I think the knob can be used to vary one of the channels, and mix the switch to turn that channel from full to off. I have chosen a motor that will spin the blades at about the right speed at full throttle.

The blades will be mounted to the hub with shoulder bolts, that way they can fold back it they strike something solid. The spinning force will keep them out otherwise.

Right, the knob would be not a problem, why not just use a splitter cable off of the "knob" rx channel to both of the whacker esc's?

I may just do that... Need to give the instructions a through read and maybe do a test setup with a few servos.

thats what i was thinking why not just use the flaps nob and that way you can spool up the cutting heads

Seems like the best bet.

On a side note I was wondering what you guys think of using 2 different rated escs for the blades?

I have the mm for the drive system, and I have a quark 80 air esc and a 65 roadster as well. Since they are both quark I can set them up to have the same profiles, so they should run in a similar fashion to each other. And since the blades are not attached to each other some variation will not cause any issues. Just trying to save a little money. Going to order the gearbox equipment soon...

I will be welding up the frame soon, looks like I have a line on the motors and should be able to mock the gear boxes up and get an overall size for this beast. This looks to be a very simple setup, worst part will be controlling the blades, the dx6 does not appear to have a knob on it... I could use my M8, but I do not have a mix on that radio for the throttle and steering, and would prefer twin stick control of the drive system. I may just use the 5th channel switch on the radio and vary the endpoint, or try to mix the rate adjustment switch, not even sure if I can do that either. I need to read the manual.

You could use a servo splitter lead on the escs, and a servo tester knob.

This will allow you control of the blades, but it won't be on the controller.

The AXI 4130's won't draw much amperage unless you're really cutting some tall stuff.

The Quark 65 should handle it fine if you decide to use it.

Good to know, I figured I would give it a try before I bought anything else.

Heres a pic of the motors that Sike is trading me. I will use the 2 4130/20 motors for the blades, and I have a matching 2826/12 already to pair with the one in the pic for the drive system

I wish I had seen this post earlier I have one of those heads that won't fit my weedeater and an extra set of blades I can send you, if you want.

That would be handy Jeff, I just bought a pack of blades and planned to make my own hub, but having options is always a good idea! Let me know what you want for them, you can pm me...
