which conversion kit did you go with, the losi kit looks ok. But I been hearing to go with a techno kit. I noticed with the losi kit you loose the ability to adjust front and rear brakes, Haven't really figured out how important that is to me. I already have one good Hiteck servo, was hoping to just run one. But now I'm debating if I would like to keep the factory brake setup..

I used the RCM motor mount combined with the Losi kit - without the mount obviously

The only good way to keep mechanical brakes is to go w/ the tekno kit iMO. Both the losi kit and the rcm mount w/ part of the losi kit you pretty much must go w/ motor braking. The losi kit if used will allow use of plastic spurs w/o any issues where the RCM will rub a bit and generate a lot of heat. The losi mount does seem to be a bit harder of material as well.. but don't get me wrong I use the RCM mount in my 8ight conversion and it does a great job as well. I use the tekin kit for my 8ight-t conversion.

Hi, I came from a nitro background so I was looking for a mech brake setup. When I started there were no kits that allowed mech brakes so I converted a Kyosho ST-RR myself and retained the mech brakes. The truggy was great and for me the mech brakes is what I felt comfortable with. This year I decided to try a Losi 8igth-T 2.0 and at first I went with the Losi kit and motor brake. The motor brakes worked great and it felt comparable to my Kyosho, lap times were almost identical. After a few months with the motor brake setup I decided I wanted to go back to mech brakes to reduce the load on my electronics and to allow brake bias. So I picked up an Tekno kit, which I have been using for about a month. The Tekno kit is great, the bias control is a plus and hopefully my electronics will hold up better when summer comes around and I see 100+ temps here in SoCal. So I have used motor and mech brakes and they both work fine, both setups have pros and cons, it's all about preference and what works for you.

So, on the tekno kit. It has somekind of clutch setup that I'm pretty interested in. Are you running that setup or the direct drive setup. from what I have been reading, you can run it both ways. I'm just wondering if one can be faster on the track having the clutch put the power to the ground in a controllable manner. For me, I haven't decided wether or not mech brakes are that important. I think you can controll some of the braking with the esc, just not distribute pwr from front to rear. I also like the tekno kit because of the new chasis. But pretty sure the 1700kv motor is where I'm going, most likely a tekin setup.

Hi, I am running the setup in the first picture, Tekno kit using the clutch. You will get some strong opinions regarding the clutch and I was originally not to thrilled about it because on a Revo conversion the two shoe clutch didn't work all that great (it got really hot). But the new three shoe design is much better and runs cool. Yes you can easily use the long shank pinion for a direct drive with the Tekno kit, and I do have a couple of long shank pinions I was going to try out but I like the clutch system so the long shanks are just in the tool box as a back-up. Yes you can dial in brake power via the ESC, but as you stated you can not adjust brake bias, and I prefer more rear bias to help the truggy rotate better in certain situations. I feel the mech brakes are more important to a racer as a tuning option.
