You guys are going over the limits. In the past, people used to run Hacker B50 7s motors in their maxxes with high speeds. Why would he even go for an L size motor?!! You want something as fast as a HV or only a friction faster than the HV, the S motors from 8,9 turns ( with a 9920 and a small pinion- they run hotter) to the 10,11,12 motors with the 7020 e.s.c and standard gear ratio are the cheapest and the most affordable everywhere. The L and XL are made for high torque and for me in a stock maxx, they look more like an overkill motors. If you dont want to upgrade anything in your maxx and you want to drive it with joy, just get the 12s and 7020 setup and I promise that you wont regret it. If you want to upgrade your truck, thats a whole different story. My appologies for the long reply.

Nice to meet you!

It's a decent reply Captain, i agree with you on the size of the motor, but you must remember that those old time setups caused certain problems, such as heat.
I am going to drop my 8S in my stock maxx in one of these days, on 3S lipo and see how it performs. (with small komodo tires)
In fact.. what am i doing behind the computer, i need to get of my bum..

thats why i suggested a low kv xl motor. no heat issues, he can gear higher or lower depending if he wants more or less speed and more or less torque, he can go up in cell count easily without the motor getting hot, ect.....

I would say a basic xl but it would been over budget. Put a xl 2000 or 2400 on 12 cells would be faster and more power than the hv maxx. The hv maxx would break stuff in the maxx captian. For that fact I have seen the titans break stuff up. I just think the maxx could be a little tougher from the factory. I don't have experence with the s cans. A 14l on 12 cells is not extremely torque for you are in the low cell count of the motor. With the low amp draw it has and low voltage it is not putting out the wattage of other systems. 14 L on the stock gearing and 12 or 14 cells would run longer and have decent power. Has no problem on a 7020 either.
Peace!

It all depends on the delicacy of the user, coolhandcountry. And from what I've understood from Mad Cow is that he is a basher and not a racer. Bashers dont pull their systems( moderate bashers, such as me, that is) to it's brink most of the times. If you drive your truck for joy, that means you are going easy on your truck or car, IMHO, though you can break the whole truck in a couple of runs, even with the titans if you have that sensation of pulling the poor truck to its demise. I'm just expressing my ideas, here, and I'm not trying to impose my notions upon you, guys. I hope it does not sound like a lecture.:dft009:

in my opinion an S/L series with a low KV is closer in comparison to a hvmaxx than an XL, and that's the point. and the question of the topicstarter.

The motor is a Feigao 8L. It'd blow a HV-Maxx away...

The thing I like about it is that it's in my price range. If I buy a motor and ESC seperatly it'll probably cost more.
EDIT: I see no way to buy from the site. How would I buy it?

Well with a stock emaxx it is not much that holds up to power with out some kind of upgrade. It may not be major but still upgrades. steel idlers and cvds is likea must. Even for a hv maxx or titans.
Peace!
