Ummmm anywho....

Ya I actually have been an HPI buyer for a while. I re-up'd my fanclub membership after my blitz purchase. Excellent build quality and makes the sc10 look like piece of poo in durability not to be confused with the design. I still love the way sc10 flies. But since Im a basher the sc10s are being sold as we speak.

Finnster I have to say you build f-ing rocks. The 4ws was incredible and inspirational.

Thanks man :) I like it a lot. Its a great platform as there are so many things you can do to mod it.

As far as the KD stuff goes, from what I've seen (like their DD kit and my motor mount) their machining is just ok. The stuff works, but the finish is rough and they do some weird things as a short cut.

IDK how the chassis is. My mount looks like it was just on a waterjet or something and never polished. After I polished it it looked nice tho.
1/5th scale is very cool. However the bodies are $$$. Something to keep in mind.
I saw a thread over on Savage Central where someone was trying to get a group buy in for a 2" ext savage arms (for a 1/5th scale build.) Jamie would build them, but needs a min order of 10 for the custom work. Looks cool. Perhaps I should post the thread over here and see if there are people here interested. I shouldn't spend anymore money...but it looks very tempting... :)

Just posted on your thread before reading this.....hmmmm the body thing. That reminds me this was one of the main reasons I never got a baja 5t. I actually saved the money for one but between the price of body, wheels, and my admitted ocd I may never drive the thing. I do NOT want to trap myself into another shelfer. Maybe the savage xl is my happy spot come to think of it. Savage XL arms are the same as the flux arent they??

I was reading on converting a savage xl to brushless and the stock chassis does not seem that difficult to make work on conversion of a flux. I am no hardcore fabber but I believe I would like to attempt to make some CF plates mocked up off the savage xl plates in 4mm tight weave.

I have my eye on some xl plates and center drive shafts now on ebay.

Ya the two applicable bodies for kerhaws conversion are the XTM mammoth and the duratrax Firehammer. Both shown on thier site. Not a huge fan of either. I am however digging the xl gigante body with my own paint of course. I am leaning in the XL direction for sure.

So the guy I bought my flux from on Sunday, said it would be sent on weds and have tracking to me same day, now he is saying he would have it out Friday now, due to not being able to find a box. Whats up with people that just think that they can send purchased items out when ever they get around to it. I work 55hours a week and when I sell something I STILL guarantee next day delivery. Oh well. Its a Christmas build anyway.

I asked just to clarify that it is in unran condition and everything comes with...the whole no box thing makes me wonder. The listing was kinda vague. A little worried.

what a coincidence; my flux is a christmas build too. the guy i bought mine from also said he would ship it on Wednesday. he said he shipped it today though via fedex ground. he said it cost him $70. that makes me a little concerned. it only cost me $20 to ship an xtm mammoth and an almost complete mammoth roller complete with 8 tires. seems a little fishy if you ask me. does $70 from south carolina to nevada sound right to anybody?

looks like there might be some stretched truths for both trucks. people just aren't trustworthy these days. this is why i prefer craigslist. no shipping involved and it is a lot easier to avoid being scammed.

edit: do you have a link the e-bay listing? they remain viewable for 90 days after the auction closes. the link to the ad for mine is in my thread.

So I got a confirmation email...its official I have a Neu-Castle 1520 1Y
1600kv ordered for the flux build. I also have xl TVPs on the way that I bought for $15 shipped and a set of stock terra pin XL wheels and tires that cost $35 shipped. My wife got me the motor for Christmas, then tonight she asked me..."is there anything else you need for the build for Christmas? " I think I dropped a tear.lol. She must want something nice in return.

As for the Flux, Still no record of being dropped off.

the fins on the 1518 get in the way of the flux motor mounts. also, the xl plates you are getting will not fit the flux motor mount anyway. you can get a kershaw designs motor mount to go with the new motor and TVPs. it's only $20. http://kershawdesigns.com

edit: on the homepage, click on the motor mount link and get the motor mount for the x/xl chassis that fits 540/550 sized motors. the castle motors are made to mount like 540 sized motors.

Thanks for the link and the guidance. You can never ask enough questions i guess.

I checked out the Kershaw mount and have to say I am less then thrilled about the design. Its high COG and dual motor mount layout particularly. I may have to not use this motor on the Flux after all. Bad planning on my part.

Maybe I need a LST2...a brother for the flux.

I am going to have to wait to see what I have going when it gets here. There must be a reason there is no low COG motor mount similar to the original but large enough for the fins right? Im assuming space restraints with the TVPs?

Did you buy HPI XL TVP's? If so, I think the FLM motor mount/plate may work for you. If its not a direct bolt in, locating and drilling the mounting holes should be easy. You could always just buy the FLM XL length plates for the flux (I think they are about 60 bucks), or even the FLM plates for the XL......quite a few options actually.

I was looking at those last night after you guys let me know. I really like the tekno mount as well. I was looking at someones on here last night. He only had two of the bolts for the mount installed due to clearance issues with the center shaft. But if the screws were counter sunk I cant see where the issue would be. Ill try and find it. The FLM stuff does look very nice tho.
