the radio shack tracks Chris has are actually licensed reproductions of Mattracks, an outfit that makes tracks for 1:1 4x4 vehicles.

Hey Brian, I know you said you didn't want a toy sled, but this one doesnt look too horrible and is 1/8 scale maybe you can rob some parts off of it or use it as a starting point? Just a thought anyway...

http://www.artattacksnowmobile.net/ Those handle brushless and the tracks/treads whatever they call them are like steel belted radials, they have to have alot of holes in them or the snow bunches up and gets 50lbs.... lots of options and upgrades. Parts to use or ideas if building your own

you don't need a solid track for flotation- think snowshoes. a solid track will actually trap snow and cause drag/add weight blah blah blah

Cool project man! Cant wait to see what you come up with.
Those Artattack sleds look pretty cool actually. I would think the track would be at least usefull for you. Mount it to your own chassis and use the skis from fullforce. The trick is the sled body tough. The full force one is the only one Ive seen. to make it... or break it... Silent...But Deadly |
