Question I am thinking about building a nitro truck, but need help picking a big-block engine. - 03.20.2010, 05:33 PM

The Truck: Most likely a full-blown UE Supermaxx (Thunder Chassis)...

On my old BB SM, I ran the LRP Z.28R Spec-3 Big-Block (3.81HP with pull-start), and it was just plain awesome...killer torque, acceleration, top-speed, powerband, and overall power...not to mention very easy to start, tune, and keep tuned. I thought about running this engine again, but there have been a lot of new engines come out in the last couple of years, like the LRP ZR.30 Spec-2 and ZR.30 X Competition, and more from other brands.

I am not looking to spend $400 on an O.S. engine, since the LRP and Axial engines make just as much power, and are just as reliable, for 1/3 the price...I am just looking for help and opinions on what engines you guys would choose.

Right now I am leaning toward to LRP ZR.30 Spec-2 (with Roto-Start), since it is based on the Z.28R Spec-3, but the ZR.30 X Competition (with Roto-Start) is also an option...what do you guys think?
