I was at the LHS a few days ago and couldn't beleive my eyes when I saw a Hornet box up on the shelf. It's been re-released along with the Frog and Grasshopper.

Mine was the original Tamiya Lunchbox. I got it for Christmas back in 1987. God I loved that truck.

I am actually in the process of restoring it. I replaced the mechanical speed control, with an new ESC and 17 turn motor so far...

I will probably do a build thread.

Mine was also the Golden Arrow from Radio Shack. Broke sumpin on that one and had to toss it out. Next was a Traxxas Hawk that would really "haul the mail". Wonder what it would be like on brushless powa!

So that's what all the fuss was about...

I have a few tycos when I was young, then "graduated" to a larger rc that I got from toy-r-us when I was 10 or so. It took regular stick packs, and had 4wd, IIRC. !st real rc was a stampede xl-1. Still have it, but the only thing original is the chassis, everything else has been upgraded, or replaced...

First real RC: Kyosho Outlaw Ultima (early stadium truck). Then graduated to the original RC10T when it came out (all white plastic parts).

Trip down memory lane - 08.19.2010, 05:05 PM

This goes back a ways, I was 7yrs old Christmas of 1976 and got a Tamiya 1/12 Scale Porsche 934 Turbo. It was electric, with a pan type chassis and direct drive. Memory is a little hazy, I think it was Tamiyas first RC car ?? It started a hobby that has helped to keep me somewhat mentally stable for all these years. Wish I still had that little car ?

EDIT, Found some Pics !

I retired from RC, now life is all about guns and long range shooting.

My first real rc was an aristo-craft kangaroo 2wd, next was a hirobo zerda 4wd. That zerda was fast

Work because i gotta, play because i wanna

People here hate Nitro, I love it. I start it, run it about 50 ft from me and it dies, I go after it. Perfect exercise
