you have many options, but know this although cost effective (novak) you will quickly out grow the system, it is very limited and as far as batteries my 2 cents lipo's are the way to go 2s 3s on an mgm controller and lehner 5300 i run 50 plus mph all day long in a fortified rusty

I have heard people running like 9cells on a 8s. I seen a video of it and it looked pretty quick.

I am not sure about 12 cells but have seen 9. 12 would be pushing the motor some.

The 8l would be putting the mgm thru is paces. I think to be safe the 12012 mgm would be better.

How fast will a rustler go with a 8s on 8 cells? I cant afford the lipo.

How does all this stuff sound?

- castle creations 80 = $170 (Only want it because it waterproof)
- 8s = $65
- Triton charger = $120
- GP3700 battery 8 cells = $65
- New Rustler = $120 (used $90)
TOTAL = $540

Can i find a charger for cheaper? Like $60-$80?

There are cheaper battery chargers that will work. That accually sounds like a nice setup for a rusty. The guy on the other forum camel rc is a member here. He has ran the 8s feigao on 9 cells in a hpi mt2. He had a video around here of it. You could find it and check it out. I think you like what you see.

Ok after all the sugestions, and comments, i think ive made up my mind. Im going for the 12 cell limit, so i can always upgrade. Since im short on cash right know, im going to get this.

- Rustler
- MGM 120
- 8L motor (which shaft size should i get)
I plan to run this set up on 6 cells till i get the money for 10 or 12 cells. If i run two 6 cells i wont need a new charger, because my charger only charges 6 cells at a time. What charger would i need for 4 cell lipo? I added everything up is i went with the 12 cells it would total at $500 if i go 8s MGM 80 its $570. Will the 8L and MGM 120 run good with only 6 cells? Will it get to hot with 12? I should be finished with this truck my late May or early June.

a ice would be a good choice. the 8L, like previously stated, is to much for a rusty.

Go to post #49. Theres a video of an associated stadium truck, and its run on 12 cells.

Im only going to run this on sand with paddle tires, wont the bumpy sand make it slow down

its not that it would be to many cells...the 8L is litteraly to much for it. its to big, to heavy, to powerful, to long, ect. the S is the right size, ect.
