989 has more capability for higher voltage pack configurations.

I can't decide if its more fun

I've owned several MRC chargers and all have worked flawlessly. I have an Intellipeak Digital which works well too. Iwas considering an upgrade to the ICE or the 989. The 989 looks simple to use and offers alot forthe money. I HATE toting 10# power supplies so I'd be inclined to go with the 989. Did I mention I HATE carrying around 10# power supplies?

I hate carrying around the ps too. I actually leave one at the track. It has been there for over a year and no one has taken it from my pit area so the ps isn't really an issue for me. I already have an ice but will probably pick up the 989 or the hyperion soon since I want to try out a 5s pack.
it is good to hear that people are liking the mrc though.

If you are going with 5s, I would get the 989. My Hyerion had some issues with the 5s
