Yes, it should. The Neu motor screw layout is slightly wider than the XL series and you can see in the pic of the mount that the Neu has to sit somewhat cockeyed for the screw holes to line up with the mount slots. An XL should fit perfectly. I actually used a dremel tool to widen the slots a hair so the motor doesn't have to be cockeyed and can sit lower to the spur, which allows me to use smaller pinions.

As for the XL, I was more worried about the length of the motor can. From looks at the pics, that rear support rod looks like it may be a little too close for comfort when a longer can motor is dropped in there.

an XL is 14mm longer then the 1512.

I understand your concern about the length of the XL can. However, you have to remember that the Neu is substantially larger in diameter, so it will get close to the rear brace even though it is shorter in length.

I have my 10XL out of the Revo right now, so I could make a quick test fit if that would help you out. It'll have to wait until tonight when I get home though...

Another thing you should pay attention to is the XL motors shaft is not quite as long as the Neu motor shafts. These guys have their pinion gears set on the shaft with the set screw out, you my not have enough room to get a set screw on the shaft in that orientation. You might want to have Mike mill a slot down in the face of the motor mount to allow access to tightening and losening the pinion set screw if you have to turn it around.

I ran into this once when making a motor mount once. It worked fime with the longer Neu shaft and the pinion set screw at the very end of the motor shaft, but the XL shaft was just a little to short to work without turning the pinion around, and then I couldnt get to the set sew cuz it was inside the clearance slot in the aluminum motor mount.

Not sure if it will be a problem, but just something to be aware of is all.

Nice setup, Gives me something to work toward, along with Briang's design.

I've got my Hyper7 stripped down to the chassis right now, I'm talking to mike about getting one of these mounts fabbed up.

Great work, can't wait to see it all come together.

I think a Feigao XL motor should fit but I'm not certain of the screw spacing on the Feigao motors, someone else probably has a better idea about this than I. Email Mike and let him know what you're looking for. I think he has also made a more traditional mount that places the motor off to the side of the center diff.

My Kyosho has a motor mount like that and it has TONS of room under the body... the motor is nowhere near hitting the body on mine...

Mainly, it gets tight on the sides and the front where the shell is the thinnest...

More progress:

I made some shelves for the batteries today and did a rough layout for the electronics. I still need to finish my battery packs, add balancing wires and shrink wrap them so they can be velcroed to the shelves. It's a hefty beast, weighing in at 8lbs. 12oz. Unfortunately I'll have to wait for the snow to melt before I can really test it out.

Most importantly, the body still fits :)

I tested it briefly on the patch of dry pavement in front of the house, sadly there's not enough room to let it hit full speed.
