The hydro looks like it's seen better days! LOL!

btw, i have a 48" replica of a 48' Chris Craft yacht. Fully stained & varnished decks, working searchlight, 1hp gas motor, etc. Used to have a .60 powered 42" Hydro as well.

I'm considering building a brushless hydro in the near future.

That spinning V (or whatever it is) is quite hypnotic :)

Maybe it's this new BL truck that this guy from Taiwan told us about :032: :032:

She is 13 years old now, so she has seen better days and worse days. She never was a looker tho, given to me as a failed experiment in how light you could make a saleable hull, it came from the factory with gelcoat you could see through in places, several cracks and a thumb hole at the back of the top deck where someone had picked it up onehanded in the wrong place (its covered by the silver graupner sticker under the wing).

Since then I've reglued the seams on the pickleforks twice, remounted my wing once and wicked cyno into uncountable cracks in the gelcoat. but the cloth has held up to the flips There was a lesson learned here, if your building a a very light hull dont use gelcoat.

Boats are great fun, if you want to run for fun you can use a 1/8 scale gear in a 24"-28" hydro with a small prop for a nice fast boat with some runtime.

If you want to compete you will need probably new stuff, the top peeps in P hydro (the 12cell/4s class) will be running enerland 4500/5000 4s 2p, neu 1521, castle hydra 240 or schultz 170 watercooled in a 30"+ hull, proped to not melt anything for a 90 second run.

I've seen some of the videos. They are amazing.

I've considered tossing my NEU 1515 into a 28" Hull to see how it wwould run. I'd need a better speed control to make it work...something capable of 20 cells

nativepaul- I used to have wallpaper that looked like your bedsheets.... long time ago. I've always wanted a fast Rc mono, what with living in Dartmouth and having a massive river estuary & reserviour to play on. Only thing that puts me off is if I flip the boat, I would have to go for a swim to retreave it- not like a truck when you can just walk over and put it back on its wheels. Do like fast boats though....

ROFL! That would be a torpedo then.... I would like some kind of rc water based vehicle, but because Im a speed freak, that makes it awkward. Same reason I dont get a plane- if you have a 'little' crash, that can be a right-off . I think I'll stick to trucks for the time being:027:

I said the submarine post in jest, but after thinking about it, it's not such a bad idea. Mount a little camera behind a clear window and you can see where you are going. Maybe even put a fishing hook on the rear to troll for some fish. :)

Well if you fancy a mono fliping is no problem, most eco style shallow V monos have a high rounded canopy that makes them self righting if they roll, or if a scale offshore deep V is more your thing you can partition off part of the left side of the hull, cut the transom out in that area and cut some vent holes in the top, when you flip this will fill with water and sink, hanging down in the water when you aply power the wedge shape of the hull will make it drive off right way up.
