Did you get that body mounted up? I wouldn't mind a pic for my gallery.

Got it yesterday!

I had been out of town for a while, and I got my mail started up again. I really have to say its one of the nicest bodies I've seen in a long time. I just got it cut and mounted tonight. I swear, my x1 doesn't deserve such a nice shell. The pics don't do the body any justice. You should see it when the light hits the metallic red at an angle.... its unbelievable.

Daf, amazing job man. You make me want to get another x1 kit to so the buggy looks as good as the shell. Much appreciated. I will definitely be coming back to your for some more paint in the near future.

Very nice looking lid. Kinda got the CF thing going on in the paint. I like it. Been thinking of having a MT, truggy, and now buggy matching shells for mine done.

Nitro? We don't need no stinking nitro!

Give him a pm and see what he thinks. I'm sure he'd make an outstanding shell for you.

Thanks guys. But I think most of the credit should go to Daf for the "looks". Under the shell, this poor guy is quite thrashed. I have to admit, I love this buggy. It takes a beating and keeps coming back for more.

Here's a quick video update of some bashing I got in over the weekend.

Update:

After blowing out my cheap-o no name esc from ebay, I decided it was time to go back to the MM. I just got my new ccbec from mike, and waiting on some neu end bell covers for a 1512/2.5d motor. I added on a novak 2700uf cap, and re-did my layout. I can't wait to get this buggy back up and running with the Neu installed.

Nice work laying it all our on that one plate. Very clean.

What points did you solder the capacitor to?

Thanks. I installed the cap on the battery leads, as close to the board as possible. I didn't want to mess with castle's solder after reading what Bernie posted, so I just cut away some of the wire housing near the base.

I got in the covers from mike today, so I was able to finish up the install. The neu is a real nice motor. This is my first so, I'm very impressed at its quality vs my other brushless motors.

edit: hey guys, I got a quick question for the neu owners. Are your motors really loud at start up? Mine is extremely loud at start-up, but then gets quiet as the rpm's go up. At first I assumed it was just my mesh, since the noise comes from the pinion/spur area. But after checking it, I found it was fine. The buggy runs very smooth at both low and high speeds (powerful too!). Nothing is binding, warped, or loose, and everything runs fine. Its just very loud at the start. I can't seem to figure it out. Anyone got a suggestion?

That "noise" you mention is (if it's what I think it is) the gear mesh slapping when the neu flips between each of it's poles at low speed. The magnets are so strong, once the rotor makes it past a pole, it quickly spins to the next pole faster than the gears are spinning when at running at very low speeds. Had me confused for quite some time. In fact, you can roll it while it is turned off and start to hear the effect. You may notice if you pull back on the truck while pushing it (if this makes sense) such that is is rolling against a constant force, the noise goes away since the mesh is alway help in contact. Least this is what I found on my 1515 2.5d.

grammar edit: the mesh is always held in contact.
