Thinking about a glasspack...

There pretty loud and sound like crap IMO. Some people like them I just think it sounds horrible.

If you can make a spud gun you can do exhaust work. Seriously, legos are more difficult. You're just uneasy because you haven't done it before. Get a sawzall and a BFH and go to town. Hangers? Mechanics wire! It's under your truck, nobody will ever see it. It should be noticably louder, so idle out of the driveway, or your dad may kill you. Just tighten the new clamps as if it will be on forever. If you have rattles, more wire! Or pay for the appropriate hangers...... I'd rather spend the money on r/c. Peace.

edit: for $40 the guy you bring it to will just hack it together, so hack it together yourself!

+1. Borlas are very good mufflers. Expensive but they have a great sound, they're well built, have a good warranty, etc. I have a Magnaflow catback on my Mustang (which has a smaller engine) and it sounds awesome, but keeping the stock manifolds, cats, H-pipe, etc. it is unobtrusive and you can drive it on the interstate without getting a headache from drone.

What type of glasspack did you buy? On my saab 1989 900s Im running an upgraded 2.5in exaust from the downpipe back "No cat" with a cherry bomb turbo muffler and a 3in chrome tip. Has a really nice throaty growl to it. Added a somewhat noticable amount of power to the 2.0l I4 aswell.

I got a Thrush 2.5in/out 28" long one... There's a shop in town that's supposed to be able to do install it for $40 bucks... I'll go to them this week if I can.

It should, depends on if you like the sound of glasspacks or not. I say spend a few hours and put it in and if you like it then keep it. If not you can either put your stock muffler back on (provided that you didn't cut it up too bad getting it out) or save up and get a better muffler.

Problem is this one is 4" too long. I'll need to do some cuttin and peobably weld a new bracket on.... I'll take another look at it and see if I can't get er done with a friend.

Hack 4in off your exaust pipe, pick up some muffler clamps and a make a bracket to hold the glasspack. Peice of cake.

Mechanics wire comes in different gauges, anything you have should work. Unless you wreck the hanger, you shouldn't need wire, but may. My point is its just a pipe hanging under a truck, all you gotta do is get it hung under your truck. You said you had 2.5" pipes, so you'll need 2 2.5" clamps, and probably a sleeve (adapter) to slip in the glasspack and in the existing exhaust with a clamp on either side. Your local auto parts store will have everything. And if something doesn't fit you get to drive around with no muffler while you get parts! (everybody's gotta do it once!)

Mechanics wire is a metal clothes hanger.lol They work great for holding up exhaust.
