The pictures that I have posted here, depict the "nuisance" that I live with.

I've spoken with attorneys and did my own research also about what can be done.

There are NO laws governing dragstrips at all. Especially ones that are not NHRA sanctioned. The damages that I have to date, the owner refuses to cover because he wasn't driving the cars that did the damage and he also makes them sign a waiver.

Then he pays these really fast cars to come up and put on a show.

One lawyer offered to research this at the rate of $100 bucks an hour with no guarantee of any kind of results.

With no regulations and of course no speed limit, the owner has it set up to just collect.

Shutdown area is very limited especially for fast cars. They are required to stop in almost the same distance as they accelerate. This is a 1/8th a mile dragstrip with just a little more than that for shutdown. 1/8th of a mile is 660 feet. At 100+mph, that distance goes by VERY Quickly.

My question is: Shouldn't there be a required amount of shutdown area for a given speed class since there is a residential area at the end of the track?

Sounds like a speed limit for a race track, I know. The thing about it is, I see kids line up on bicycles right by the fence to watch them cross the finish line. I can just imagine some bad things happening.

Fastest car I've seen to date was a jet powered dragster. He ran a 2.79 at over 200mph. One older lady in the neighborhood was blamed for calling the fire department. It was reported that a drag car "blew up", which was really the boom, boom afterburner exhibition.

3 Fire Departments responded.
Sprinkle some nails on the entrance to the track before race day... Use about 5-10lbs of the 2" variety.

Most guys trailer their crap in, so a few nails in 10 or so tires per racer should keep them busy. Or make friends with the police. Or purchase some very cheap PA equipment, and blare rap music, most guys who race old stuff are not that fond of rap.

You could also get the neighbor hood kids together and buy them a bunch of bottle rockets to shoot at the cars when they go by...

What is the addy of your house or the dragstrip? I would like to see an overhead view of it!
