As some say, 2 is always better than one!

I will be testing mine at a race meeting this weekend if the weather holds out. I will post up here with some performance results, or something.

look forward to hearing your thoughts on the buggy. right now I am not even worried about the extra buggy. just want to get this thing set up for the outdoor season. I haven't raced outside in awhile and I am really looking forward to it.

Now I just need the tekin system to show up.

Update! - 04.26.2009, 12:48 PM

Hi

Tested it today, only electric at the track, though not for long I think!

Handling is beautiful! Loads of turn-in but the back end doesn't break loose too easily (except if you pile the power on when at full lock). Excellent at jumping too - it's perfectly balanced. Much better than the Losi 8 handling-wise that I ran previously. It reminds me much more of my XB808 nitro that I had. Run times of about 12 minutes, though I'm looking at using 5S ~4500 - 5000 mAh to hopefully up the run-times to 15 - 16 minutes.
Breakages
I broke the shock top (the plastic bit) where the shock top mounts to the tower, but I did this by landing upside down, fast on a board. It only cracked it too, I didn't notice until I had finished the final.
Position
I wouldn't say I'm the best driver, or anywhere near it, but I can get around the track alright. I qualified 3rd (best 2 rounds of 3) in the A-final, then in the final I kept my position well until at about 9 minutes (just before the battery change) a marshal didn't hear me flip over so dropped to 5th which is where I stayed for the rest of the 20 minutes more-or-less.

Certainly recommend this car - I love it!

Hi
The nitro body isn't as much of an issue as I suspected it might be. Though the track was bone dry and dusty. I think in the wet there is going to be a major problem, it does provide good cooling though!

I'll see if I can get some pictures up at some point.

Is the basic shape of the chassis the same as the nitro version? If so you could the mudguards for the nitro version.

The problem is the nitro mudguards have the radio box and all kinds of other stuff built into them. They aren't like the normal mud guards. It could be done, but you would need to do allot of cutting to them before it would work.

I can't decide if its more fun
to make it...
or break it...

Yeah, as jhautz said, the nitro version has the radio box built into the side guards.
Also I don't know how similar the actual shape of the electric and nitro chassis are, but I'm pretty sure they are different. The Nitro one has angled sides whilst the electric one is straight down each side parallel to the centre.

Then I wonder if Losi or Xray 808 guards would work, the Losi chassis is straight, the Hot Bodies D8 is also. Hmmm.....

The Losi ones wouldn't, because the chassis is offset so one guard would be too big. The 808 chassis has slightly angled sides, but the side guards are probably too big. The 808 chassis is probably even narrower than the Losi.

I reckon that you could easily make side guards with the mesh that is used for car repair, mould it to the right shape, cover it with fibreglass, then screw it in place. Actually, you may not even need the fibreglass covering, the mesh is fine enough to stop large clumps of 'stuff' getting through, but you still have cooling.

I will be doing a modification that allows quick battery removal, though I'm still working on the design.

so any more news on the car? How has handling been compared to other conversions based on your experiences?

Right now, looking at either doing one of these, or just going with the RC8B when it becomes available and converting it.

One thing I wonder, if they could have designed it so the ESC sat on the chassis, and moved the receiver box to be above the servo?
